The neighborhood’s vision for East Washington
Street is to create a thriving, pedestrian-friendly
environment that encourages stewardship and
economic development reflecting the mixed-use,
working class spirit and ethnic traditions of
the community.

Market Alley
Holophane Re-Lights an
Old Section of Downtown
The daytime sparkle and durability of Holophane glass adds value and
enhances the downtown environment. These are enduring qualities.
In this application, the city of New Castle has replaced an old lighting
system with the GranVille Utility Series, complete with decorative ribs,
bands, and standard finial.

Waterfront Drive
The decorative lighting
assembly, which is comprised
of a 14’ fluted cast aluminum
tapered pole on a Wadsworth
base and also features flower
baskets.
Comfortable uniform lighting is essential for pedestrians as well as
vehicular traffic across Waterfront Drive, a parkway and path system
along the west side of the Shanango River.
The Riverwalk
The Riverwalk has been designed to be a
focal point of the downtown experience in
New Castle, and is the heart of the overall
Downtown Revitalization. Shown here are
Hallbrook® luminaires with prismatic glass
optics, pendent mounted to a Grand Ledge®
decorative arm.
The Bus Stops Here
Acuity Brands Lighting, Inc.
To entice retailers to come back to downtown
and set up shop, the city saw a need to make
infrastructure improvements, which included
improving the quality and image of the public
transit authority.
