Orphans in Panti Asuhan Kampung Melayu
Panti Asuhan Kampung Melayu is a Muslim
orphanage who currently housed 60 orphans. It has
been a registered home for more than 20 years.
There are 28 girls and 32 boys. The age of the
orphans range from 7 yrs to 18yrs.
Majority of the children have no father and a small
number of them are without parents. They came
from very poor families from Jakarta, West Java
and Central Java.
The orphanage is survived by mainly public
donation as the government only provide very little
support. Speaking to Mr Ujang, he revealed that the
home is only given S$0.15 for each child daily by
the government . The transport money to and from
school is already S$0.75 each child, not mentioning
on their daily food expense and the electrical/water
bill for the home.

Learning Points
On how mission was
successful
On how future mission
can be improved
From Swan Members
This is first time Swan has contributed to a Muslim
organisation and this is in line with Swan’s vision of
helping the needies irregrdless of race and religion.
Swan members can organise exclusion, games or
sports for the orphans in future beside the normal
food contribution.
Will Lee : I’m very happy that as a group (Swan) we
can help unfortunates from all races and religion.

To be able to help the unfortunate is a blessing for
us.
May we dedicate the merits accumulated to all
sentient beings and may they be free from all
sufferings.
