Introduction
Efficient note taking while listening to a lecture or conversations in
a discussion is one of the most valuable skills one should possess.
The skill is also proved to be useful when making notes from written
texts for exam or preparing documents from a draft to a nicely
printed material.
Therefore, in this particular workshop, the SuperWrite writing system and
technique will help one to develop efficient note taking. It is an
application of a quick, easy-to-learn writing system that is very helpful in
making legible notes at a faster rate – a great technique that everyone can
certainly benefit from knowing them.
Ability in taking or making note efficiently is considered as a useful
skill for retaining required information. It is not only for secretaries
or stenographers, but also for professionals in various industries
where their jobs require them to attend meetings and discussions.
It is also an advantage to students as they need to make their
revision notes or to housewives who take notes for recipes from
their favorite television cooking series.
The system will enable the note-taker to concentrate primarily on the topic
at hand rather than trying to write verbatim on longhand letters.
Interestingly, it can be typed without needing the use of special letters
and symbols, and anyone would not have any problem reading and
comprehending the notes as it does not require the use of symbol or
phrasing.
Facilitator
Siti Hajar bt. Wan Mohammad is a lecturer with nearly 30 years of
experiences in teaching diploma and degree students, as well as adult
students in part-time mode of study. Siti Hajar holds academic
certificates of Diploma in Stenography and Diploma in Executive
Secretaryships. She also posesses Bachelor Degree (Hons.) in Human
Resource
Management and
Master’s
Degree
in
Business
Administration. With many years of services in Universiti Teknologi
MARA (UiTM), Siti Hajar specializations are in the areas of the office
management and technology skills, and management of human
resources.
Ismi Safia Adila bt. Ibrahim is a dynamic young lecturer who received
both her Bachelor in Education (TESL) and Master of Education (TESL)
from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). She is currently preparing
herself for her Doctorate studies, which is expected to start by the end of
2015. She had teaching experiences for several years at Universiti
Teknologi MARA (UiTM) before joining Terengganu Advanced
Technical Institute University College (TATIUC) since 2012. As a
member of The Malaysian English Language Teaching, Association
(MELTA), Safia believes that knowledge of different language brings up
many opportunities and possibilities in life. Her research interest is on
applied linguistic, and educational psychology.
Learning Outcomes

ii. Demonstrate the ability to take notes, build
speed and transcribe using SuperWrite principles
iii. Use correct rules of grammar and punctuation
