Re:
LRAPA/Oakridge Ordinance Enforcement
I have concerns about non-enforcement for LRAPA/Oakridge Ordinance 914 in the
“islands” of Lane County Neighborhoods inside Oakridge City Limits, in the Oakridge
Urban Growth Boundaries, and the Lane County Neighborhoods outside these areas that
affect the Oakridge Air Shed. There is no county ordinance and/or way for the Oakridge
Police Department Code Enforcement Officer and LRAPA Enforcement Officers to take
action beyond education at this time. Our Air Quality, Health and Welfare, and Economic
Development is effected by these areas, but we have no say in trying to improve the
problems we have if it is in Lane County, outside Oakridge City Limits. I have heard the
statements, “I live in the County and I can do what I want” on several issues that have to
do with Air Quality. I think we need a partnership with Lane County to help address and
improve this ongoing problem. It is my understanding if sanctions are placed on the City
of Oakridge from the EPA, it will affect the areas in Lane County as well. I request the
City and LRAPA ask the Lane County Board of Commissioners with help on these issues
and become a partner in our team effort to improve our East Lane County Air Shed/Air
Quality.
The City of Oakridge is an equal opportunity, affirmative action institution committed to cultural diversity and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
