EDITORIAL
The daybreak of July 12th saw the end of a
welcome summer break and the
beginning of a new academic year, with
fresh horizons of learning to be explored
at NISV. Shouldering my school bag, I
stood at the portico, moony-eyed,
meditating pensively over what the year
would hold in store for me. This thought
flashed into the mind's eye at the
memory of the flurry of activities that
engulfed one and all at school as we
stepped beyond the threshold, on the
first day of school. Every passing event
was enrichment at best, adding layers of
experience to character, fostering and
augmenting it every step of the way.
Counterbalancing academic pressures
with co-curricular activities defines the
life of an NISV student. This balancing
act, over the past months, formed a
significant part of the story of our lives,
the story of growing and learning! The
gift of beautiful and unforgettable
memories that we have acquired with
the progression of time at NISV shall
forever remain enshrined in our hearts
and creates a sense of eager anticipation
for the succeeding months!

Boarding @ NISV
ESSENCE OF LIFE AT THE BOARDING : In this “home away from
home” it is our constant endeavor to ensure that every child grows
in an environment of mutual respect towards each other. This is
also a place where every boarder is provided with a platform to
showcase their talent in a host of activities. A healthy competitive
spirit is maintained through various boarding activities within four
boarding teams. The teams this year were named WILD TUSKERS,
GATORADE, RED BULLS & WE$T$IDE.
We were blessed with 29 new boarders and our boarding strength
at the start of the year was 67 with 53 boys and 14 girls ; an increase
of almost 20 from the previous year! Some of the regular weekend
activities included the Friday Evening Games as part of the CAS
activity for the grade 12 boarders, the Ramatgamatma which is an
initiative undertaken by the school to share our time and energy
with those less privileged. The Saturday evening in house movie is
also eagerly awaited along with the Sunday morning internet time.
Friday Evening Games
In order to bring in a home like environment the monthly boarders
birthday celebrations with a high tea is organized apart from the
regular celebration on the actual birthday. One noteworthy
feature in the boarding is the celebrations of all festivals.
Prominent among these being Diwali where we have a gala dinner,
a few party games and wind up with a fireworks display. The
tradition of Santaclaus arriving at Christmas and secretly keeping a
gift for each boarder was kept alive this year as well. A round of
Housie and a sumptuous dinner added to the festive mood.
Ramatgamatma
Birthday
Celebrations
An enjoyable overnight trip to the Orsang Gamdi resort was
organized in the month of August. The monthly movie and lunch
outings too have been a great hit. A trip to Ahmedabad on 2
evenings to cheer or school Soccer team at the Claris Cup and then
dinner at McDonalds too was appreciated by all. The Vadodara
Marathon and subsequent breakfast buffet at Hotel Ginger was
the icing on the cake.
The Investiture ceremony once again brought great pride to the
boarding with the appointment of 13 boarders on the Student
Council namely, Param Kukadia as the Sports Captain, Angel
Chandwani as the Cultural Affairs Captain, Nihal Solanki and Rahil
Sheth as the Community Outreach Representatives, Ushma Shah
and Aksh Palan as the Boarding Representatives, Bansree Patel as
the Nurturers House Captain, Tejeshwar Gill as the Seekers House
Captain, Yashasvi Kondhia, Rohan Mandawewala and Vyom Patel
as House Prefects, Sahil Chauhan and Vikas Brahmbhatt as Grade
Representatives.
It is expected that a number of our boarders should excel in
Sporting activities and this year was no exception. With
representing the School team in various age groups at Soccer,
Basketball, Swimming and Cricket the boarders did all of us proud
some even going on to represent the State.
Adventure Camp to
Orsang Gamadi
Vadodara Marathon
The School Annual athletics which is underway is once again
providing the boarders an opportunity to showcase their hidden
talent. From performing at Athletics to putting up a Pyramids
display they are leaving no stone unturned to do all of us proud.
To sum up, the first term was filled with a fair share of happy, sad
and tense moments as well and all this was taken in our stride. We
look forward to the second term with great hope and joy.
