Lake Bomoseen Association September 21, 2015 LBA NEWS Brought to you by the friendly people of Lake Bomoseen Did You Know Lake Bomoseen is a freshwater lake in the western part of the U.S. state of Vermont in the towns of Castleton and Hubbardton in Rutland County. It is the largest lake that lies entirely within the state's boundaries, with a surface area of approximately 2,400 acres (9.6 km2) Did You Also Know That the Battle of Hubbardton, Vermont was the only Revolutionary War battle fought on Vermont soil. The Battle of Bennington was actually fought in New York State. So why do we celebrate the Battle of Bennington as a state holiday? Did you know By becoming a member of the LBA can make a difference on how you can help protect and promote our lake. Please join. SIP BOMOSEEN A wine tasting and pairing experience is being held on Friday, October 9 at the Lake House Restaurant on Lake Bomoseen 6 to 8 PM. It is a fund raiser for the Lake Bomoseen Preservation Trust. Attendees will be greeted at the door with a glass of champagne and some hors d'oeuvres. Then each person will be seated at a table with 6 bites of different foods which can be tasted with three different red and three different white wines. Folks will experience the properties of the different wines and how the taste changes before and after sipping each wine with the various foods. The experience then finishes with a dessert wine and dessert buffet. This is an educational and a fun event. Tickets can be purchased at Century 21 Bird Real Estate, The Lake House Restaurant and Woodard Marine. If you are interested you are encouraged to purchase the tickets prior to the event as seating is limited. A LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE LBA Lake Bomoseen Association 1 Lake Bomoseen Association September 21, 2015 As I sat on my porch Sunday, I was watching and listening as the geese flew by heading for warmer weather. This reminded me that the summer has once again come and gone. No more late night sunsets by Neshobe Island, no more warm summer nights with campfires and s’mores. I was also reminded that the milfoil didn’t seem as bad this year and hopefully it will decrease again next year. Let’s hope for another cold winter. We can be thankful that we live on the prettiest lake in all of Vermont that can be enjoyed by everyone. We all need to work to keep it that way and by all working hard this lake will stay special to all of us. The Lake Bomoseen Association takes pride in protecting and promoting the lake we live on every year. The LBA would like to know what concerns you, and I, as president would definitely like to know your ideas on making our lake better. Please email me at [email protected] with your comments and suggestions. I will try to respond to you as soon as possible. Thank you, Bob Franzoni Lake Bomoseen Association 2
