WELCOME BREAKFAST AND KEYNOTE SPEAKER…Included!
David Mendel, President of Mendel Tours, is often called upon to give
talks about the history of Québec at international conferences and has
given numerous tours of the city for visiting dignitaries. He is the
author of a best-selling series of guide books devoted to Québec City
and its surrounding region. David’s presentation provides a colourful
and entertaining introduction to the city’s dramatic history.
Christy Carpenter, VP, MT&R Media Center & International Council – “Your
presentation on the history of the city of Québec and on British influences in
the city were top-notch and helped provide us all with a context for why
Québec City truly is a unique and important part of the heritage of North
America. Our delegates are some of the most world-savvy travelers you
might ever encounter and their praise speaks highly to the quality of your
presentation”.
AN EVENING AT THE QUÉBEC NATIONAL ASSEMBLY…
Included!
CIAA Member delegates and sponsor partners will enjoy an exceptional evening including a
tour of the Second Empire style architecture of the Parliament Building and the many works
of art it houses, an exquisite buffet dinner and an internationally renowned musical
performance!
OPTIONAL PROGRAMS….
Golf Le Grand Vallon (Rentals: Tel: 418.827.4653 or 1.888.827.4579)
Designed by the celebrated Howard Watson, one of the illustrious Stanley Thompson’s apprentices,
Watson is renowned for having designed many of Québec’s most beautiful courses: his ingenuity and
vision did not fail him when he conceived Le Grand Vallon. The course that lies at the foot of the
majestic Mont-Sainte-Anne has enjoyed an enviable reputation throughout the east; Le Grand Vallon
continues to distinguish itself as one of the province’s most breath-taking courses.
A Natural Extravaganza!
Parc de la Chute-Montmorency is a few minutes from Québec City. Located between the river and the
cliffs, it's one of the province's most spectacular sites. Montmorency Falls (83 m) dominates the
landscape. Admire the astonishing beauty as you learn about the site’s rich history. We will meet our
guide upon arrival and make our way to the top using the panoramic cable car. Enjoy a short walk to
the suspension bridge and learn about the legend of the White Lady, among other authentic
characters and surprising stories. The Manoir provides an ideal setting for lunch with culinary
specialties, enchanting view of the St. Lawrence River and the falls and top-notch service in a place
built like an English manor.
OPTIONAL PROGRAMS…. (Cont’d.)
Experience History...
The historical borough of Île d'Orléans celebrates Québec's rural tradition with its gorgeous
scenery stretching along the banks of the St. Lawrence River, only a few minutes from
Québec City. Experience the rich and vibrant culture of this island jewel, which is the
birthplace of New France. Enjoy the service and the wonderful cuisine at the Moulin de
Saint-Laurent, a historic building constructed under the French regime. St. Anne is
believed, by the pious, to perform miracles. People from all around the world come to visit
the basilica. One of the church's builders had crutches; when he finished his work on the
church, however, he is said to have been able to walk freely. Pillars in the front entrance
are covered in crutches from people who are said by the parishioners to have been
miraculously cured and saved.
Discover the Secrets of Québec City…
Your tour begins at the Morrin Centre which reflects four major periods of Québec City
history and bears witness to the French and English language communities that contributed
to its heritage and made it what it is today. The current building was erected between 1808
and 1813, to serve as Québec City’s first purpose-built public prison, or “common gaol” as it
was then known. The walking portion of the tour begins on the Dufferin Terrace, the
magnificent boardwalk overlooking the St. Lawrence River and continues on to the Seminary
of Québec; the interior of Notre-Dame-de-Québec Basilica and Lower Town to discover Place
Royale and the Petit Champlain area.
