KIEWIT
MEXICO
Kiewit’s roots can be traced back to 1884,
when two brothers took a dream, some
bricks, and a little bit of mortar and built the
foundation for what would become one of the
largest and most respected construction and
engineering organizations in North America
and beyond.
Our goal is to be the best, not necessarily the biggest, contracting organization on Earth.
–Peter Kiewit

Safety comes above all else. To us, nothing is more
important than the safety of the men and women on our
projects and the surrounding public. No excuses. No

From the smallest jobs to multibillion dollar projects, our
resources and experience assure clients will receive the
quality, hands-on service they deserve. Regardless of the
project’s location, each project is backed by the strength of Kiewit’s
resources including financial stability, equipment, and people.
QUALITY: RIGHT THE FIRST TIME
Kiewit Energy de Mexico, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Kiewit
Corporation, has entered into a strategic alliance with GIA, a large Mexican national construction company, to
pursue power, oil, gas, and chemical opportunities in Mexico. GIA provides a strong Mexican presence with
vast in-country knowledge including a deep understanding of the social and political landscape and thorough
understanding of the current Mexican laws and regulations. Over the last 20 years GIA has successfully completed
more than 550 major projects. GIA brings its extensive experience in material purchasing, and civil, concrete and
structural steel erection to our team.
We stake our reputation on it. Kiewit’s formal quality
program enables us to build work right the first time and
challenges us to continuously improve, while meeting or
exceeding our clients’ expectations.

THE KIEWIT DIFFERENCE
OUR PEOPLE
Kiewit is one of the largest employee-owned firms in North
America. In fact, we’re 100% owned by active employees—a
legacy that was started with Peter Kiewit. All of our projects
are led by employee-owners, which promotes accountability,
an entrepreneurial spirit, and a greater drive for success in all
aspects of our work.

11 YEARS
Our bilingual team has extentive experience in Mexico, with an average of over 12 years in the energy industry.
We have familiarity working with state-owned oil companies and we understand the process of navigating through
a major project in Mexico.
Through experience, we know that training our people leads to productive and competent employees. We develop
customized, individual training programs for all new hires. The training plan includes activities that are at active
project sites, through Kiewit University, and/or through the Kiewit Learning System. Employees hired-on in Mexico
will intern on projects located in the U.S. for three to six months. Through high-quality training, our locally hired
employees will strengthen their skills and further the success of our projects.
PEOPLE. INTEGRITY. EXCELLENCE. STEWARDSHIP.
These four words represent the core values of our company. They are the foundation for our success and
longevity. From generation to generation, these values remain at the core of everything we do.
SELF-PERFORM
Self-performing our work is a fundamental differentiator for many of our clients’. Because we self-perform on
average, roughly 80% of the work on our projects, Kiewit can offer schedule and budgetary certainty to stake
holders. We believe that by self-performing our work with Kiewit personnel, we can set priorities and train personnel
to perform work consistent with the Kiewit commitment in regards to safety, quality and environmental stewardship.
EPC & ENGINEERING CAPABILITIES
Over the last 30 years, Kiewit has proven itself to be a leader in the engineering, procurement, and construction of
power plants and OGC facilities. 90% of our power work is done on an EPC basis.
Kiewit has provided engineering services to the power industry for more than 35 years. Through our offices in
Mexico City, Houston and Kansas City we maintain a staff of approximately 1,000 engineers and desginers. Our
engineering organization provides full service engineering in power, and oil, gas, and chemical markets for all of
North America. The strength of our engineering organization is one of the key reasons Kiewit has grown to be No.1
in fossil fired power generation in North America.
