Should You Opt

Courtesy Pay?
Starting July 1, 2010, if you want Courtesy Pay available for
ATM and one-time debit card transactions, you must opt in. This
is a requirement by a new regulation intended to increase consumer awareness of, and to help them choose, how overdrafts
are handled when using a debit or ATM card. The regulation
does not affect Courtesy Pay on checks and ACH transactions.
At NGFCU, you have a number of choices when it comes to
covering overdrafts. It is important for you to know what they
are. When an overdraft is paid through Courtesy Pay, you will
be charged a fee of $20. You can also cover overdrafts by setting up automatic fee-free transfers from your savings or money
market accounts or MoneyMaster Line of Credit.
If you do not opt in to Courtesy Pay or have not established
another overdraft source, when you swipe your card for a
purchase or at an ATM without enough funds in your checking
account, the transaction will be denied. If you opt in to Courtesy
Pay, you can change your mind and opt out at any time.
