LIVE AUCTION
#1 First to D’Art
Eliminate chance. Be the first to D’Art!
You’ll be able to select the perfect “must have” artwork for you. Your
favorite is just a bid paddle away. Over 200 artists to choose from!
#2 Kevin Barton
Amazing Blazing
Over the past almost twenty years, Kevin Barton of Petoskey has
become one of northern Michigan’s most well-collected artists with
paintings hanging in collections across the nation. His work has
garnered numerous awards and accolades, including the Manoogian
Museum’s Gold Medal Award, Signature Member status with the
American Impressionist Society, and most recently Best of Show
at the Crooked Tree Arts Center annual paint out in 2014.
He enjoys capturing the specific details of a subject, yet wants people
to know they are looking at a “painting.” His style is almost like a
world made of paint. The oils that result engage the viewer and
uniquely instill in them a sense of participating in something timeless.
This year’s featured artwork had an interesting path to fruition in as far
as the inspiration. While painting a newly discovered sunflower field,
he was concentrating intently on his piece and hadn't glanced up for a
time. Then looking up, the sky was stunningly lit with the pinks, purples
and even the yellows of the flowers below. Grabbing the camera and
starting to shoot, clearly the reason to be there that day was to get
these photos and not just to paint. For this artist, that is unusual. Mr.
Barton says, "I knew I had to do something special with the painting to
come, and shortly afterward I was asked to be the featured artist for
D'Art."

Visit a family owned winery for a tasting and have a home-hosted lunch in a charming
country home. Stop in Siena, a medieval town with one of Tuscany's most beautiful
squares. Travel to the Etruscan hill town of Orvieto, known for its white wine and

on your own. Spend the next four nights in a pristine Umbrian hill town.
Embark on a guided walking tour of historic Spoleto. See medieval palaces, the ornate
Duomo of Santa Maria Assunta, and the magnificent Ponte delle Torri, an aqueduct dating back to the 13th century. Enjoy free time to peruse the town’s shops and cafés. Pay

We so appreciate the generosity
of area artists for their support of the
Crooked Tree Arts Center.
Often, there is extra artwork not selected
during the D’Art for Art drawing.
If you’re interested in purchasing one of these
pieces, please see an Arts Center staff member.
