Confirmation
Sunday, April 28, 2013
10:30 a.m.
The following young people are ready to affirm publicly the baptismal
covenant God made with them in Jesus Christ and to take on greater
responsibility with us in the mission of the church. Confirmation will take
place on Sunday, April 28 at the 10:30 service. Holy Communion will also
be offered. Please keep these young men and women in your prayers that
they will continue to grow in faith in the Spirit as witnesses of new life in the
crucified and risen Christ.

To reserve altar flowers... Sign up on the flower chart in the narthex
or call the church office. Our flowers are done by Ivy League Floral &
Design Studio on West Washington Street. The cost is $20. If you
have special orders for your flowers (certain colors, a larger
arrangement, etc.), please contact Cori Ratliff at Ivy League. If your
order is beyond the $20, please pay the shop directly.

Adult Choir
Thank you to the choir for your special songs in the month of March. We are blessed by your music!
Beginning on Wednesday, April 3, choir practices will be held in the sanctuary from 6:30 to 7:30
p.m. We will be working on the musical selections for the rest of the season.

Sing We Now of Jesus, Just a Closer Walk with Thee, As We Come Together
Living Spirit
Thank you for your awesome songs during the holy season of Lent and Easter! Living Spirit
practices will be held in the sanctuary on all the Wednesdays in April from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m. This is
a CHANGE, since Lent is now over. Our Aril song is “Always.”
Emanubells
There will be at least two practices in April for Emanubells on Wednesday,
April 3 and 10 at 6:00 in the sanctuary. They will play for the ELCA
Women’s Conference on Saturday, April 13 at Emanuel.
After School Club
The children did a great job ringing and singing in March. The last day of
After School Club for this school year will be Wednesday, April 24. Thanks
to all the parents who provided drinks and snacks during the year!
Junior High Youth
A big thank you to our youth for a job well done at the Good Friday service in March. Your
enthusiasm for serving God and your church is truly amazing.
The artwork from Good Friday will be on display in the overflow area until Sunday, April 28.
There will be a silent auction for each piece, with 100% of the proceeds going to “Together We Can
Make a Difference.” There are bid sheets by each canvas on which to put your name, phone number,
and bid amount.
Andrea Hoffman put many hours of time, effort, and thought into this project, and she made it a
wonderful experience not only for the kids, but for the congregation as well. With all of her artistic
skill, she has the great ability to take a very small idea and make it fantastic. Thank you, Andrea!
Holy Week and Easter
Words cannot express the thanks we give to all who helped in any way during Lent and Easter this
year. It takes many people working together to get everything prepared. Whether you helped in a
small way or a large way, it was noticed and appreciated.

Confirmation
Confirmation will be held at the 10:30 service on Sunday, April 28. There will be special music
chosen by the confirmands and communion. Please keep these young people in your prayers as they
prepare for the next step in their Christian lives.
DVDs
A reminder: church services are videotaped each week. If you miss a service, pick up a DVD to take
home. You can also watch the services on youtube.
Radio
In the month of April, the 10:30 service will be broadcast on WNDH.
Something different: we will be using vocalists for all the hymns in order for the words to be
clearer on the radio.
Summer Worship
During the summer, we will be having ONE worship service every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. Join us for
this beginning on Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
A Little Story
The following comes from a letter written to a church: “Please! No more new hymns. What is
wrong with the inspiring hymns with which we grew up? When I go to church, it is to worship God,
not to be distracted with learning a new hymn. Last Sunday’s was particularly unnerving. While the
text was good, the tune was quite unsingable and the harmonies were quite discordant.”
The letter was written in 1890. The hymn that aroused the complaint: “What Friend We Have in
Jesus.”

Henry County Solid Waste is hosting:
– Battle of the Henry County School Electronic Fundraiser Event.
Support your favorite Henry County School by supporting the Electronic Recycling
Fundraiser event on April 6. The schools will be recycling old computers and other
outdated/obsolete electronic equipment. Bring anything with a power cord EXCEPT TVs
and LARGE APPLIANCES to your local school between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Schools
participating include Patrick Henry, Holgate, Napoleon and Liberty Center. Questions: call
the Henry County Solid Waste Office at 419-592-7343.

There will be a blood drive at the Lutheran Home of Napoleon (Chapel) on Friday, April

Support Groups. — Fulton County Health Center, 725 S. Shoop Ave., Wauseon —
H.E.L.P. (Helping Each Other Live Past a Suicide)
If you have lost someone to suicide, you are welcome to attend the meetings. We cannot
take your grief from you, but it does help to talk with someone who knows your despair and
isolation. We give supportive listening and companioning through these grieving times. We
educate participants on the causes of suicide in order to prevent more loss. This group meets
every third Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m.
H.O.P.E. (Helping Other Parents Experiencing grief)
If you have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, death of an infant or children due to
illness, accident, or suicide, you are welcome to attend the meetings. We cannot take your
grief away from you, but it does help to talk with someone who knows your despair,
isolation, and the heartbreak of empty arms. We give supportive listening and companioning
through these grieving times. This group also meets every third Monday of every month at
7:30 p.m.
