 Opening Ceremony Information – Saturday 27 June Parade Information Dancer/Teacher 16:00 -­‐ 16:30 Arrival Time: Parade Start Time: 17:00 (approx.) Location: Orăşelul Copiilor Meeting Point: Dancers and teachers taking part in the opening parade should meet at the entrance to the Park Orăşelul Copiilor. There are many entrances to the park. You should go to the one next to Mc Donalds (marked on the map below). Taxi/Uber: If arriving by taxi or Uber, ask your driver to drop you off at the Orăşelul Copiilor entrance near Mc Donalds. Metro: The nearest metro station is Constantin Brâncoveanu. The meeting place is around 250m from this metro station and there will be a DWC volunteer at the station to direct you to the meeting place. Coach/Car: If you arriving by coach or car we recommend that you are dropped off at Sala Polivalentă and then walk through the park (around 500m) to the meeting place. Parking is available near Sala Polivalentă or at Palatul National al Copiilor. You will need to allow time to walk through the park to get to the meeting place so should arrive here no later than 16:00. If you are arriving by coach, please let us know in advance by sending an email to [email protected]. Parade Information: The parade will start at 17:00 and will parade 500m to Sala Polivalentă (the venue for the Opening Ceremony Concert). The teams will parade through the Orăşelul Copiilor Park / Funfair. There are plenty of places for supporters to watch the parade plus many outlets where you can buy drinks and food. The countries will parade in alphabetical order except for Romania who will go last. It may be very hot PLEASE BRING WATER WITH YOU and ensure you are wearing sunblock, hats etc. Parents and supporters can then make their way to Sala Polivalentă to take their seats and watch the children parade into the hall. The dancers will then take their seats for the show. Opening Ceremony (Concert) Start Time: 19:00 Location: Sala Polivalentă -­‐ Calea Piscului, 10 București, 040354 Cost: The Opening Ceremony is free to watch, no tickets are required and there are 5000 seats available. Dancers will sit in one half of the venue, and spectators in the other half. General: The Opening Ceremony will include: • Presentation of the mascots and flag bearers to the dignitaries of Bucharest, the judges and DWC council and club WOW representative. • Playing of the national anthems • Music and entertainment with a Romanian theme. Collection: The Opening Ceremony will finish at approximately 20.15/20.30 so collection can be arranged for around this time from Sala Polivalentă. The Park/Funfair will still be open so you can walk back to the metro through the park. You may want to arrange to be collected/travel back later to enjoy the park and Funfair. Please don’t forget to bring lots of flags, and good behaviour as there will be many people in the Funfair to watch the parade and enjoy the event!
