Coop Danmark A/S is one of the
largest retail companies in Denmark.
“Prices are now updated automatically during night.
And when we arrive in the morning, everything is ready.
We save approximately 600.000 DKK per year.”
Kresten Haubo
Warehouse Director, Kvickly in Jyllinge, Denmark
Kvickly is one of the largest warehouse chains in Denmark, with approximately 80 stores nationwide. The
size of the warehouses makes it possible for Kvickly to offer a wide range of goods with both strong price and
high quality. Kvickly offers a special organic range and a large selection of quality merchandise at discount
prices.
Fully graphic electronic shelf labels at Kvickly Jyllinge, Denmark
Kvickly Jyllinge is one of the many Coop stores that have chosen to implement Delfi’s fully graphic electronic
labelling solution. With the fully graphic solution, detailed information can be displayed on the electronic
shelf label – everything from product description and price, to barcodes and logos.
With the new solution, it is possible to change all product information via a two-way radio system from ZBD.
Breece System eliminates the manual handling of paper shelf labels and is therefore a time-saving solution.
Thereis now consistency between the prices on the electronic shelf labels and the prices at checkout, as the
electronic shelf labels are being updated with current information directly from the POS system Box 2 in the
store.
Kresten Haubo, Warehouse Director in Kvickly Jyllinge explains his experience with Breece System:
“Previously, we had some problems with pricing errors at the checkout. The prices on the shelves and at the
checkout did not match, despite our very precise way of working. This was frustrating for both customers
and employees and we spent a lot of time changing paper labels manually. The solution with Breece System
ensures that there is now consistency between the price on the shelf and at the checkout and this means we
have happier customers and employees. We are also able to make more money now because we can spend
time in a more positive and promotional way in store.”
Today, Coop operates the supermarket chains; Kvickly, SuperBrugsen,
Dagli’Brugsen, coop.dk and the subsidiaries; Fakta A/S and Irma A/S.
Coop is owned by FDB and together
with the independent consumer
cooperatives, Coop has an annual
turnover of approx. 50 billion DKK
and 35.000 employees.

With the fully graphic solution with electronic shelf labels, employees are now able to focus on other and
more valuable tasks in store such as sales and increased customer service. Consistency between the price
on the shelves and at the checkout creates a sense of security and trust for both employees and customers,
because they no longer have to worry about pricing errors, which leads to increased customer loyalty.
Labelling of new goods is simply done by using a handheld terminal where store staff simply scan the
barcode on the product, scan the barcode on the electronic shelf edge, and that’s it.
Breece System
With Breece System, stores can
eliminate pricing errors and reduce
times spent at checkouts, because
there will be 100% accuracy and
consistency between price indication
on the electronic shelf labels and the
checkout.
It is possible to display everything
from product text and images to
barcodes and logos on the electronic
shelf labels.
All the electronic shelf labels can be
updated at the same time without
affecting existing IT systems in the
shop.
Breece System provides retail chains
with competitive advantages and
enables up multiple daily updates on
pricing and product information.
It is a centralized solution that allows
the option of implementing central
updates at chain level with every
store involved. But at the same
time, it is also possible for each
store to make its own updates.
Kresten Haubo explains the savings that the stores have achieved by implementing Breece System:
“Prices are updated automatically during night, and when we arrive in the morning everything is ready.
This has resulted in an increased focus on sales and since it also saves time, it is more rewarding. We have
estimated that we will save approximately 600.000 DKK annually in staff costs. It has not been necessary
to dismiss any employees because we now focus more on customer care and improved efficiencies in the
store.”
Kvickly in Jyllinge has chosen the fully graphic solution with Breece System, because it is cost-effective and
eliminates the manual work with replacing paper shelf labels so employ¬ees no longer have to walk around
the store updating prices and product information.
From the POS system called Box 2, employees are now able to manage all changes on the shelves, easily
and quickly, and directly from the store office. The implementation and configuration of Breecce System
should only happen once.
Kresten Haubo explains the simplicity of the solution:
“It is easy for us to change prices from Box 2. In particular, at Christmas time, it was easy to reduce the
prices of our Christmas stock by 50 %. The items were quickly sold out, and we then had room for new stock
in store. The fully graphic shelf labels show both the discounted and the normal price and even the location
of the goods, so it is easy for all employees to re-merchandise items. Where products have a relatively short
shelf life, the new solution has been great economically, and we have been able to lower the price of specific
items by 50 %, instead of throwing them out, reducing product wastage.”
The solution can be implemented in
a store while it maintains its daily
operations and serves its customers.
