Keeping Kids Happy and Healthy all Summer long
The lazy days of Summer are now upon us and while it’s so tempting to toss away the everyday routine one thing we can’t
let the kids skip out on is staying healthy! We might be sleeping in a tad bit later, but morning routines are still in place
which includes a healthy breakfast, brushing their teeth and sunscreen before heading to the sandbox.
To keep things fun for the boys we’ve been trying a few new products in the bathroom!
Toms of Maine is a natural minty fluoride free toothpaste, it’s not too ‘hot’ as my
boys would say but has a nice cool mint flavour. All of the Kiss My Face for kids
products have really fun packaging that the kids love! This Berry Smart toothpaste
has no parabens, artificial colours or flavours but still tastes berri-licious!
The Carry Clean toothbrushes were a big hit with the boys, they love the way they
suction right onto the countertop!
Summer colds are not uncommon, I woke up to the sounds of
two coughing kids this morning. When fevers hit at any time of
the year try the Be Koool soft gel sheets to relieve the
discomfort. They are sized for children’s foreheads and last up
to 8 hours. No refrigeration is required, they are ready to go
when you are and can be tossed away when done.
To keep both you and the kids movin’ and grovin’ all Summer
long, I have a fun Mommy and Me prize pack to giveaway!
Prize Pack is valued at $41 and includes:
·
Kiss My Face Obsessively Natural Kids Detangler Creme
·
Tom’s of Maine Wicked Cool Toothpaste
·
The Carry Clean Suction Cup Base Toothbruses
·
Be KOOOL Soft Gel Sheets
·
Lypsyl Tropical Oasis lip balm
·
Finesse Keratin Protein Dry Shampoo

Great Family Finds
Is your little one sick from the heat or battling a summer cold?
One of the hardest battles is with the fever; rising body
temperature causes discomfort, pain and sleeplessness that can
take a toll on both mom and tot. Be Kool Kids non-medicated
cooling gel sheets offer eight hours of cooling comfort. Yep, the
kid can sleep. Decorated with Disney characters and safe to use
in combination with meds, these sheets reduce skin
temperature by up to four degrees. Perfect for summer family
travel, they don’t require refrigeration and you’ll find them at
retail outlets.
Are you concerned about what goes in your kid’s mouth?
Tom’s of Maine’s new Wicked Cool! natural toothpaste
contains only a handful of high quality naturally-derived
ingredients. It cleans gently with a mild mint taste and it’s a
great option to help kids aged eight and up transition from the
fruity flavours they enjoyed as lils to the strong mint flavours
used in adult toothpaste. See www.tomsofmaine.com.

Certain things just scream summer: endless construction; broken water mains
flooding the streets like a Christina Aguilera video; people-watching on patios;
day drinking; fireworks. And, of course, summer scents. Here’s what’s got our
noses all giddy nowadays…
Body Mists
A signature season deserves a signature scent – preferably one without a major
price tag. There’s an almost unspoken rule that adulthood is equated with
perfumes or colognes. While that may be fitting for the fall and winter, summer
scents should embody the season – light and carefree. While
you might
not be reaching for the Calgon right now, don’t discount
body mists just yet. Many companies now make eau de parfums and
fragrance mists that rival pricey perfumes for a fraction of the cost. The Body
Shop’s Vanilla Mist is a personal favourite of mine. This warm scent is sweet and
slightly earthy without being overpowering. Spritz a bit on the inner side of the
wrist to provide a subtle hint of scent during the day. Or spritz all over and run
through it like a shower (no judgement). For $11 , you can’t really go wrong.
Just a Tip: It’s important to remember that fragrances manifest differently on
each person. While spraying a scent on a testing strip may give you an idea, it’s
best to wear the fragrance around for a day to see how it works with your
natural scent.

Well, even though Sample Killah was going strong this
month, I still made a point to focus on my ‘nearly empty’
products, and as such, I also have an empties post to share
with you this month! It turns out…I had a LOT of nearly
empty products. Not surprising, given that my attention
span is –oh, look, a butterfly.
Sample Killah means lots of baths, and that means lots of bubbles — I didn’t have to bust into my
daughter’s bubble bath stash, and was able to stick to my own toiletries, thankyouverymuch. The
end result? A nice, tidy collection of empty bottles to accompany my large ziploc bags filled with
foilies and whatnot. What a productive month!

Finesse Keratin Protein Dry Shampoo

I'm no newbie to dry shampoo - it's a product that I use very
regularly. I wash my hair every other day, and I like to use dry
shampoos on my "off" days, just to freshen up my locks. Finesse has
recently come out with their new Kertain Protein Dry Shampoo*
(150g), which promises to deliver a clear formula. Ever since I
started dyeing my hair dark brown, I've really been able to tell
which dry shampoos spray clear and which spray white. When I was
blonde I couldn't really tell the difference, but now I definitely
prefer clear dry shampoos!
Finesse's Kertain Protein Dry Shampoo comes packaged in a tall blue
aerosol bottle. This formula contains keratin proteins, which work to
provide added conditioning and shine to the hair. Keratin also works
to strengthen your hair, and prevent split ends. To use, shake up the
can, and spray onto your roots from about 20-30cm away. True to
claims, Finesse's Kertain Protein Dry Shampoo sprays clear. I found
that if I use too much, you can start to see a bit of a white powder,
but that's only when I get very heavy handed. I leave my hair alone
for about a minute, and then I brush out the product and style as
usual.
I was surprised by the boost in volume from this dry shampoo, even though I don't really need any added
volume. This formula does hide my oily roots to a degree, but it isn't the most effective dry shampoo that I've
used. I find that I have to use a bit more product to get my roots looking great, and my hair isn't that oily to
begin with. I don't think that this formula would work on third day hair, but it is a good product to lightly
refresh your hair. The scent is very nice and reminiscent of a salon and it does linger in my hair for a few
hours.
I do think that Finesse's Kertain Protein Dry Shampoo is a good drugstore option. This won't become my holy
grail dry shampoo, but I do still love that it sprays clear and gives a boost of volume. Are you a dry shampoo
addict, like myself? What's your favourite dry shampoo formula?

Wedding Series 2014: Part IV: Best Honeymoon Hotels and Tips
DelectablyChic! is excited to present its Fifth (including one series under Prospere
Magazine) Annual Summer Bridal feature, our four part series on Wedding Prep, Gifts,
The Wedding Day, as well as Best Honeymoon Hotels & Tips. We end with Best
Honeymoon Hotels & Tips.
1.Don’t forget the massage oil. Who wants to go shopping while on a
honeymoon? The Body Shop has a fabulous Sensual Massage Oil with vanilla and
ylang ylang as well as and All Over Body Massager. Let the Honeymoon begin
… If you really want to build ambiance, bring a scented candle like L’Occitane en
Provence’s Neroli Orichdee scented candle. Set a rose petal bath and light the
candle.
2. Bring a deep conditioner. If you end up swimming a lot and have a lot of
tangles, even the best hotel conditioners don’t transform your hair. Schwarzkopf
Professional’s BC Hair Therapy Repair Rescue Deep Nourishing Treatment is small
enough to easily fit in your luggage, and can completely transform your hair from
unkempt chaos to movie star soft. Similarly, also keep
a Dry Shampoo
like Finesse Keratin Protein Dry Shampoo handy for
emergency fix-ups.
3. One of our favourite products of 2014 is OPI’s Wipe-Off! acetone-free lacquer
remover wipes. They are easy to fit even in carry-on luggage and one wipe can
remove the polish of all nails hands and feet, in just a matter of seconds. This will
easily enable you to change your nail polish shades as well as remove any fading
colours.

glad I didn’t have any to test this month since it’s given me an excuse to go all Sample

Killah) but one product I’m a bit hesitant about is dry shampoo, and the reason is just
that I don’t really need it. My hair is dry, not oily, and if it were to get oily it would mean
it definitely needs to be washed. However, a surprise bottle of Finesse Kertain Protein
Dry Shampoo* showed up in the mail and I take my bloggerly duties seriously so I put it
to the test all the same.
First thing about Finesse Kertain Protein Dry Shampoo is that it comes in a large
(150 g) aerosol can. So this is an affordable product, with a big promise–
”refreshing formula, sprays clear”. Although my dry hair rarely needs dry
shampoo, the main thing that deter me from it was the white cast it usually gives.
This is why Finesse Kertain Protein Dry Shampoo is so awesome– it really sprays
clear! It is basically like applying hairspray, and then you massage it into your roots
and there’s a slight powdery feeling but no white residue.
Kertain Protein Dry Shampoo has a light salon scent and when I used it on hair that
was a bit oily I did feel like it help absorb it. I don’t usually use dry shampoo, so I’m
not sure how effective it is in comparison to other dry shampoo, but the fact is, I
can’t really use other dry shampoos with my really dark hair, and I can use this. I
also tried it out on my boyfriend who does get oily hair (he wears a hard hat all
day) and it definitely helped, although it did add volume, which his hair does not
need.
Overall, although Finesse Kertain Protein Dry Shampoo isn’t necessary in my dayto-day routine, I’m super impressed that there’s such an affordable dry shampoo
at the drugstore that doesn’t leave a white cast. For the price this is worth trying
out no matter what your hair colour, but I especially recommend it for those with
dark hair who struggle with traditional dry shampoos.
Do you use dry shampoo? Have you tried this one?

Yes to Yardley-this ain’t your granny’s lavender….
I received these products for review.
When I think Yardley, I think bath time. I also think of my grandmother
and her bottle of Yardley that sat on her countertop in the bathroom.
I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about these 2 products-English
lavender? All I could think of was ladies in hats and pastel skirt suits and
sandals. And the lotion? I was certain it would be some runny, thin
consistency that would have my elbows dry in an hour.
Here’s what Yardley says about the eau de toilette (I hardly ever wear
EDT as it evaporates quickly on me!):
Our signature fragrance combines lavender leaves, neroli and clary sage
with a heart of lavender oil and geranium, with deeper notes of
sandalwood and tonka bean.
And the body lotion, you say?
A light and easily absorbed lotion that leaves the skin feeling soft, smooth and
delicately fragranced
My thoughts:
Firstly, I absolutely LOVE these 2 products-and seeing the ingredients (and
knowing they are blends) made me VERY VERY happy. I layered them
together when I wore them. The lotion was the biggest shocker….it was thick
and soft, but absorbed quickly. The scent has great staying power-I can still
smell it on my wrist after a full 8 hours.
Should you buy it?
If you like lavender and earthy, crisp blends, then absolutely! My only
‘complaint’ is that the lotion should come in a bigger size. I used this product
for 3 weeks and I’m practically out of lotion! I would prefer a tub or just larger
bottle.

FUSE GELNAMEL DIY ONE STEP AT HOME
LED GEL NAIL POLISH SYSTEM REVIEW
RATING
Product (4/5)
Cost (5/5)
Ease of Use (5/5)
Packaging (5/5
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Fuse Gelnamel has been developed for our customers who did not want the multiple
steps & 2 week wear of a full gel polish, but still wanted no dry time. Fuse is a
completely new type of product. Neither a full gel, or a standard polish – it’s a
combination that applies in 1 coat (you can do 2 if you prefer), cures in 30 seconds
and lasts for up to 7 days. It is also super portable – the one finger lamp works from
the mains or from your laptop with the USB lead provided!
WHY I LIKE THIS PRODUCT
The kit outlines a super easy method of applying gel polish at home with no need for a base or top coat. Not to
mention the entire kit only retails for around $25 CAD and look at how cute the little LED lamp is! This lamp is going to
make it a lot easier for traveling and for vacations where you need a chip free manicure. The LED light can also be used
for toes as well because the top of the lamp is removable, which allows you to switch it around to use for a pedicure.
The steps to follow are not that difficult but you must make sure you complete one nail at a time.
Another thing that I also enjoy about this product is that it dries so quickly. After curing the nail for 30 seconds inside
the LED light, the nail is completely dry. No wait time is required. This is amazing for anyone who is tight on time but
still wants nice nails. The large lid of the polish will take some time getting used to because it may be difficult to
handle.
Finally, who’s really for a Girls’ Night In? I know I am with all
these amazing products from Brill Communications! Thank you
for all these goodies!

Ready for your fabulous summer vacation? Whether
you’re leaving on a jet plane or loading the car for a
road trip, it’s time to run through your ready-to-travel
checklist. We’re sure you’ve got all the essentials
packed, including the right pair of sunglasses, your
beauty survival kit, sunscreen, and your
favourite bathing suit. And even more
importantly, you’re booked in at your trusted
aesthetician to have your fingers, toes, and nether
regions prepped for fun.
Wait a minute! Hold the phone. Fingers and toes? How long did you say you’re going to be away for? What if your polish fails
you? What are you going to do then?
There’s nothing that ruins our holiday mood more than a chipped mani/pedi (well, maybe a case of the tourista, but that’s for
another day). But never fear, because FUSE is here with the perfect gel mani and pedi that can be done anywhere. We can’t tell
you how much this little unit that fits in the palm of our hand has changed our outlook on long-term travel.
FUSE Gelnamel brings together the best of polish and gel nail colour. This all-in-one-formula will give you salon-worthy (and
chip resistant) nails no matter where you are. The best part? You won’t waste your whole vacation waiting for your polish to
dry. When you use the perfect little portable LED lamp, the Gelnamel dries in 30 seconds.
The good stuff:
Chip-resistant gel manicure
High-shine colour
Easy to apply and remove (with 100% acetone and a gel polish removal tool)
• Completely portable
• Dries in 30 seconds when under the LED lamp
• Easy-to-use – the groove on the inside of the little lamp means your finger or toe is perfectly placed
• Suitable for both manicures & pedicures*
*For toes: Lift and reattach the top portion of the lamp angled outward and follow normal usage instructions.
FUSE Gelnamel comes with one starter kit that contains a FUSE LED lamp, one Gelnamel shade, cleanser, a manicure stick, and
a nail buffer. Additional high-voltage colours are sold separately.
Note: While FUSE is meant to be a one-coat formula, we found that with certain colours we felt the need to apply two coats to
get the colour saturation we were looking for.

Review: Fing'rs Prints Press-On Nails in Street Beat Go
Bandanas

I’ve been pretty lazy about nail art lately, so when I was given the change to try
Fing’rs Prints Press-On Nails, I decided to give it a go, even though I don’t usually
like the feel of fake nails.
There is much that I love about these nails (the pattern, the way they look like
they fit my fingers), while there are also a few things I don’t like (fake nail feel).
I received Fing’rs Prints Press-On Nails in the style Street Beat Go Bandanas. This
kit comes with 24 Pre-Glued Nails in 12 sizes, 2 Star Rhinestone Charms and 6
Adhesive Tabs (to be used with the charms).
Right off the bat, I had a bit of trouble trying to decide which sized nails to use,
mostly because of the pre-glued aspect. The glue isn’t covered, so you cann’t
pre-test the nails to ensure they will fit. You basically have to test by holding the
nail above, but not touching, your finger.
If I could make one suggestion, it would be to have a safety film on the adhesive
that needs to be removed before wearing, just so you can actually test the nail
size fully before applying it.
Once you are sure of the fit, put the base tip of the nail against your cuticles and press the whole nail down, applying a bit
of pressure to help the adhesive take.
The charm is used by applying one of the adhesive circles to either the charm or your nail, and pressing it into place.
As you can see, the nails apply tight to my fingers, although the charm is very 3D. I was quite impressed with the fit of
these nails. The size variety in the pack is quite extensive, so these should fit most fingers, although they are short, so
you’ll have to pass if you have long nail beds or long natural fingernails.
Although these are short, and actually look like they fit my nail (a first for fake nails!), I still didn’t enjoy the feel of them. I
am just not a fake nail wearer, and am not really able to function with these on.
I found that removal was quite easy, and not at all painful. I was able to slowly peel of the nails, going from side to side. I’m
not sure if that would negatively affect wear time, but I appreciated the easy removal.
Buy again?: If I wanted to wear a fancy pattern on my nails for a special event, without painting them, I would definitely
pick up Fing’rs Prints Press-On Nails again. They have a wide range of patterns, and unlike most fake nails, these didn’t look
too big on my fingers.
