Holiday Message
The management & staff of Rosedale
would like to thank all of the residents
for their support and help throughout the year. We wish all of you
and your families a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy
New Year.
Annual General Meeting
The Rosedale Residents’ Council Annual General Meeting will be held
on Tuesday, January 26th at 1:30pm in the Estates Common Area.
Policy Regarding Gifts for Staff
We kindly request that residents or their family consult Management
prior to giving money or gifts to Rosedale staff. As a provider to
seniors, we have a responsibility to monitor these activities. Residents
have organized a voluntary monetary gift from residents to staff
members for the last several years as a gesture of appreciation.
Donations to our Rosedale Christmas Gift Fund for our staff must be in
before December 15th, 2015. Thank you for your contributions. You
may contact the project volunteers: Wilf Tiedemann, Mike
Derenowsky, Rosina Ward, Jon Walley, Miki Norris and Frank Brown.

appropriate outerwear and proper footwear to avoid slipping or
tripping. Rosedale takes great care in ensuring the walkways of our
buildings are shovelled and de-iced for your safety throughout the
winter season, but caution and consideration is always required in
winter conditions. Please use the indoor pedways whenever possible to
travel between buildings.
Building Security and Theft Prevention
Please remember to lock your suite door when you are not home and
refrain from letting strangers into the main entrance. Visitors should use
the intercom system to reach residents or staff members to gain
entrance into the building. Thank you for keeping our community safe.
Edna Fehr
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce
that Edna Fehr, VP Operations at Rosedale, passed away suddenly on
November 28, 2015. Edna was one of the original staff when Rosedale
first opened up in 1998. Staff and residents will always remember Edna
for her cheery and caring personality and her dedication to her work.
She touched every resident and staff member in some way. We will
always miss Edna and remember her with great fondness.

Safe Bathing Poster
Please Wash Your Hands Regularly
Remember to perform frequent hand
hygiene either washing hands with soap
and water or by using the hand sanitizing
stations throughout the buildings. This is
the best way to stop the spread of the “flu
bug” and keep everyone healthy over the
coming Christmas Season.
Limit the Spread of Illness
If you are feeling sick, please do not come
down to the main common areas. Notify
staff of your illness and meals can be
brought to your suite. Controlling infection
is extremely important in residences like
Rosedale.
Please report any symptoms you might be
experiencing, like diarrhea and vomiting,
sudden onset of cough and fever, to the
LPN and nursing staff immediately.
Resident Concern Forms
If you have a concern, Resident Concern Forms
can be picked up at the Front Desk and the
Homecare office. Completed forms can be given
to the Manager who will respond verbally within
5 business days and in writing within 21
business days.
Resident Handbook
Please review your Resident Handbook
on a regular basis. Here is a list of the
Code of the Month for the winter:
December: Code Black
Bomb Threat/Suspicious Package
January: Code Brown
Chemical Spill/Hazardous Material
February: Code Blue
Cardiac Arrest/Medical Emergency
For all residents who receive care
services, the HCAs will be placing a
Safe Bathing Poster (Three Checks) and
a Shower Documentation Record on the
bathroom wall for HCA reference and
documentation when assisting residents
with showers. This ensures safety when
bathing/showering and follows direction
based on the Continuing Care Health
Service Standards, which Rosedale is
required to follow. We ask those
residents to cooperate by leaving the
poster and documentation sheet on the
wall. Thank You.
Safe Water Temperatures
Please remember to always turn the
cold faucet on before hot to ensure
safe water temperatures for bathing,
handwashing and other warm water
use. Always test the water temperature
before use to avoid injury. Rosedale
follows the Alberta Building Code &
Accommodations Standards to ensure
safe water temperatures for our
residents. Thank You.
Maintenance Message
Residents are asked to keep their
windows closed during the cold winter
season – pipes can freeze and burst which
may result in flooding and extensive
damage to your suite and to the neighbors
above, below and next door.
Also, please ensure that you do not have
items or furniture in front of the
heaters as this can cause thermostat
inaccuracy in sensing and adjusting room
temperatures for your comfort.
Thank you.
Remembrance Day Service
The Recreation Department would like to thank
our residents for their attendance. Our heartfelt
gratitude is also extended to our veterans for
their sacrifices and our volunteers; the service
would be nothing without you.
