HOW IS ICE.TEL II STRUCTURED?
To use iCe.Tel II there you need the following four components:
-
PBX-specific TSP (TAPI driver)
ESTOS TAPIServer 2.2 which communicates between the local TAPI driver and iCe.Tel II
MySQL 5.0 Server (we recommend the free „community edition“) as the database
The software iCe.Tel II
The TAPI driver is a spectial driver for you telephone switchboard (PBX) and therefore it is different from PBX to
PBX. On our website http://icetel.info you can find a list of all supported switchboards. Even if you switchboard
is not listed, it is most likely possible to use iCe.Tel II if there is a TAPI driver for your switchboard
After the TAPI driver was installed on your server, the TAPIServer from Estos has to be installed there, too. This
software serves the TAPI information on your local network.
Following you can find a detailled instruction how to install the software.
INSTALLING ESTOS TAPISERVER 2.2
On the iCe.Tel II CD the TAPIServer-software is included in german and english. You can find the English
software in the folder procall2.2.28.1220uk. You can install it by clicking on procall_uk.

HOW DOES CTI WORK?
The connection between a computer (or a computer network) and a telephone (or a telephone switchboard) is
called CTI (computer telephony integration). With iCe.Tel II you can see the possibilities that you have with that
connection.
The communication between the switchboard and a computer is normally realized by using one of the
following connection methods:
-
USB (needs one free USB port in your TAPI server)
serial (RS232, needs one free serial (COM-)port in your TAPI server)
S0-Bus (needs an ISDN card in your TAPI server)
LAN (can be integrated directly to your computer network, the TAPI server communicates with the
switchboard by using TCP/IP)
You need to install a telephone switchboard-specific software on your server. This is the so called TAPI driver
(TSP, TAPI service provider), which realizes the software interface between the switchboard (PBX) and the
server. By installing the TAPIServer software you can route this TAPI information out on your computer
network, so that all client PCs on which iCe.Tel II is installed, can get this information.
Schematically this looks like the following graphic:
3rd Party CTI
The TAPIServer software assigns the client computer and the correct telephone (extension), so that iCe.Tel can
react on the correct client computer, for example if the telephone is answered.
