Notes from Leslie
Here we go again with the extreme
weather of good ole’ Nebraska in March.
Rain & thunderstorm on a Friday, followed
by blizzard conditions on Sunday, dumping
up to 10” of snow or more in places and then
warming up to 60 degrees by the following
Friday! Who says “you can’t have it all?”
A nice-sized crowd of 93 people
watched the March movie, “Safe Haven”
based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks. It
was a good movie that
everyone
seemed
to
enjoy. A few twists & turns,
a little bit sad, but with a
very happy ending! Don
Jacobs & Martin Homes
were celebrating March
birthdays and helped with
the prize drawings. The
$2 prizes were won by
Jerry Kobs, Don Jacobs, Eldon Ahrens, Dave
Larsen, Helen Jipp, Joe Chapman, Lonnie
Giles, Nancy TeSelle, Martin Homes and
Laverne Hoogner. The morning $Moneybags$
prize was won by Jerry Kobs, but no winner was
drawn in the afternoon. The $Moneybags$
will be $10 (a.m.) and $20 (p.m.) at the April
movies that will be shown at 9:30 a.m. and
1:30 p.m. at the Blair 3 Theatres.
Our evening outing to see The Lion
King was really enjoyable. We started with
a wonderful meal at Tussey’s Casual Grill
(in the Mormon Bridge Plaza) – great food
& service which I would highly recommend!
The performance of The Lion King was
once again (even if it was my 4th time)
extraordinary, especially the costumes and
animal props. This is a Broadway production
that everyone – young and old – should see
sometime.
The reservation deadline for
“Homesteaders to Church Pews” has
passed and we have a full bus that will be
heading toward the Beatrice area on April
25th. I will be sending departure information
to everyone soon.
The Mackinac Island & Door County
tour scheduled for September is filling up
quickly, so don’t wait if you want to make a
reservation for this 9-day tour. Please call
me at 402-533-0103 to check on availability
of space.
One-third of
the seats are filled for
the “Homegrown and
Handmade” day tour on
Thursday, June 20th We
will travel across the
river to visit a Lavender
Farm, the Honey Creek
Creamery, Hitchcock
Nature Center, Religious Arts Museum,
Sawmill Hollow (aronia berry farm), Harrison
County Historical Village and have lunch
at the Garden Grove Eatery. Make your
reservation by May 20th to join us on this fun
outing.
Mark your calendar to take advantage
of the Free Community Shred Day hosted
by the bank on Saturday, April 20th at both
of our locations – Blair and Tekamah. More
details are listed in this newsletter and we
look forward to helping you with a little spring
cleaning!
