Dear Members and College Football Friends:
We are proud to share with you the 2011 ballot, which includes photos of some of the 2010 honorees. Hopefully, you will enjoy looking at the photos while they also serve as a poignant reminder
that the Class of 2011 will truly be joining college football’s greatest legends.
The centerpiece of the National Football Foundation’s efforts to promote our great game and
inspire future generations to greatness, the College Football Hall of Fame represents the pinnacle of
achievement in our sport. Of the 4.79 million who have played college football since the first game
on Nov. 6, 1869, only 882 players and 190 coaches have earned the right to be immortalized in our sport’s ultimate shrine.
Selecting the greatest players and coaches in the history of the game for induction into the Hall of Fame is an awesome
responsibility, and your vote plays an important role. Members often tell us about their passion in voting, and we are pleased
to share with you this unique member benefit.
Please cast your vote by March 31, and we look forward to sharing the results with you.
Thank you for taking part in this very special tradition and helping us build leaders through football.
Kind regards,

Football Bowl Subdivision Player Candidates
WHAT IT TAKES: The Criteria for Hall of Fame Consideration
1. First and foremost, a player must have
received First-Team All-America recognition by a selector organization that is
recognized by the NCAA and utilized to
comprise their consensus All-America
teams.
2. A player becomes eligible for consideration by the Foundation’s Honors Courts
10 years after his final year of intercollegiate football played.
3. While each nominee’s football achievements in college are of prime consideration, his post-football record as a citizen
is also weighed. He must have proven
himself worthy as a citizen, carrying the
ideals of football forward into his relations with his community and his fellow
man, with love of his country.
Consideration may also be given for
academic honors and whether or not
the candidate earned a college degree.
4. Players must have played their last year
of intercollegiate football within the last
50 years*. For example, to be eligible
for the 2011 ballot, the player must
have played his last year in 1961 or
thereafter. In addition, players who are
playing professionally and coaches who
are coaching on the professional level
are not eligible until after they retire.
5. A coach becomes eligible three years
after retirement or immediately following retirement provided he is at least 70
years of age. Active coaches become eligible at 75 years of age. He must have
been a head coach for a minimum of 10
years and coached at least 100 games
with a .600 winning percentage*.
* Players who do not comply with the 50year rule and coaches who have not won
60 percent of their games may still be
eligible for consideration by the Football
Bowl Subdivision and Divisional
Veterans Committee, which examine
unique cases.

TAKING THE FIELD ONE MORE TIME: Hall of Famers and Major Award Honorees Participate in
2010 On-Campus Salutes, Presented by Fidelity Investments
Ever since the inaugural College Football Hall of Fame class in
1951, the National Football Foundation has joined forces with
colleges and universities around the country to orchestrate memorable NFF On-Campus Salutes for the Hall of Famers during
their year of induction, allowing the honorees to return to their
school and accept the adulation of the fans.
At the event, the NFF presents a commemorative plaque to
the institution during one of its home football games for permanent display in the school’s athletic facilities. Included in
2011 Ballot Issue
these pages are a few photo highlights from the 2010 OnCampus Salutes.

He must have proven
himself worthy as a citizen, carrying the
2011 Ballot Issue
ideals of football forward into his relations with his community and his fellow
man, with love of his country.
Consideration may also be given for
academic honors and whether or not
the candidate earned a college degree.
4. Players must have played their last year
of intercollegiate football within the last
50 years*. For example, to be eligible
for the 2011 ballot, the player must
have played his last year in 1961 or
thereafter. In addition, players who are
playing professionally and coaches who
are coaching on the professional level
are not eligible until after they retire.
11
5. A coach becomes eligible three years
after retirement or immediately following retirement provided he is at least 70
years of age. Active coaches become eligible at 75 years of age. He must have
been a head coach for a minimum of 10
years and coached at least 100 games
with a .600 winning percentage*.
* Players who do not comply with the 50year rule and coaches who have not won
60 percent of their games may still be
eligible for consideration by the Football
Bowl Subdivision and Divisional
Veterans Committee, which examine
unique cases.
