ONTARIO WOMEN’S FIELD LACROSSE
MESSAGE from the OWFL COMMISSIONER
T
The U15 and U19 Team Ontario squads completed a
productive summer of tournaments. The teams played
tourneys in Washington, D.C. and Boston. They are
looking to a final junket to Rochester in November.
The U19s (above), can be seen at the historic
Harvard Stadium on the campus of
the Ivy League school.
he 2014 season saw players, coaches, umpires, and spectators enjoy over 750 OWFL lacrosse games across five
age groups. We had fourteen new champions following
three highly competitive weekends of provincials in Orillia,
Brampton, and Windsor, where our U19 A division championship was held as part of the Ontario Summer Games. These
champions come from a greater variety of clubs, reflecting the
growing strength of the new clubs that have joined us in recent
years and the steady development of the league.
In growing numbers, our players are becoming outstanding
leaders who are volunteering to coach or are taking up the
whistle to umpire games. We appreciate the additional time
these amazing volunteers have taken to attend clinics and talk
to mentors in preparation for these new roles as well as the
hours given to providing excellent programs for the players.
Overall, 2014 was a huge success for girls’ field lacrosse here
in Ontario and 2015 will be even better.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the
volunteers for their time, effort, and skill. Whatever your role –
coach, trainer, manager or organizer – without you, this league
would not be growing as it is, and without you, our girls would
not be loving this game in quite the same way.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all again next year!
Stephen Taylor, O.W.F.L. Commissioner

Jadyn Bomberry
Six Nations U-19
Introducing Jadyn Bomberry, a promising
grade 10 student athlete and U-19 Middie
who proudly wears the Six Nations purple
and white. Jadyn is an Honours Student
and multi-sport competitor. “JBomb” has
six years of lacrosse playing experience
including a silver medal finish with the
inaugural McKinnon Park High School team
at the 2014 OFSAA-sanctioned Trillium cup.
Jaydn, a future entrepreneur, hopes
to turn a love of science and sport into a
personal training business. Her gifted scoring
touch and agile, shifty style allows her to
easily leave defenders in her slipstream.
These skills make Jadyn an invaluable asset
for Six Nations and a future college team
with excellent business-oriented credentials.
Jadyn was inspired by seeing her aunt play
and Jadyn has this wisdom to share with
young OWFL laxers:
“Learn how to switch hands
early on, as it gets harder to do
as you get older.”
