Cara’s Park
Community Spirit in Cumbria
With the local park under threat of closure, Proludic and Friends of
Acredale Road worked closely to raise funding for a modern and
exciting new park.

guidance and assistance throughout the process, presented the best
designs and were great value for money...we had the budget and the
vision - and Proludic made it a reality”

Friends of Acredale Road
Location
Carlisle, Cumbria
Value
£100,000
“A community park that caters for all ages from 2-90 - what we worked
so hard for has actually happened!”
Kevin Wooldridge, Chairman of the Friends of Acredale Park Community Group
“This new park provided for the community, by the community, has lifted
the community spirit, with families, and children socially interacting on their
own doorstep. Children are exercising in the fresh air instead of sitting in
front of boxes. A huge benefit for all!”
Ian Stockdale, Belle Vue County Contractor

Challenge
To create a dynamic and exciting community
park for the residents of Acredale Road.
The site had previously fallen into disrepair
but thanks to Friends of Acredale Road,
funding
was
raised
to
create
a
21st
Century play area for the whole community.
Proludic Solution
It was obvious to everyone involved how important the
park was for the community. Everyone rallied together,
young and old, to create a public space that the entire
community are proud of. Maintained and cared for by
local residents, it is set to remain a real hub of energy
for the people of the area. Judging by how busy the
park has been, it will continue to provide an exciting
and vibrant social space for many years to come.
From visits to Cara’s Park since the opening, Proludic
can see how much the project has brought the people
of the neighbourhood together - It is integrating elderly
people into the community and local schools and
nurseries are bringing their classes along - there’s a
real sense of pride and achievement in the air!
