Thank you SEFCU! …and again we turn to the immortal words of Job, “I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth.” These words are all about Easter. The empty tomb. A risen Lord… who helps us feed the hungry, comfort the fearful, and befriend those who have nowhere else to turn. He is also a Lord who wants us to offer rescue for the long haul. He is a Lord who, through the power of His death and resurrection, is able to bring hope and new life to all who repent and call in faith upon His name. This is the work we see God doing every day. We don’t make the transformation happen – He does. But you are partners. With your help, the truth has set him free My name is Joe. I am 22 years old, the oldest of 4 children. Although my mother is a Christian, growing up I was on the fence - teetering between the world and God. That led to being easily influenced, even though when I was 12, I opened my heart to Christ. Kids made fun of me when I entered high school. But I began hanging out with my wrestling buddies and started smoking pot. As my popularity grew, I began using heroin and other drugs. I thought I could expand my mind by trying cocaine, LSD, and ecstasy. For a year I was in and out of secular rehab programs, with many relapses. By the end of 2014 I was homeless again. My parents sent me to a Christian program, where I began reading the Bible. In May 2015 I was on a bus to Capital City Rescue Mission reading about Abraham’s journey. That first night in chapel the message was about Abraham. And I knew God wanted me here. I saw how people at the Rescue Mission loved the Lord, and had a personal relationship with Him. That’s what I wanted. In my second month of the program I My goal in high school was to decided to let God run the show become a state champion in of my life. This led to serious heroin use. That summer I placed 3rd In the New Life program I learned that the Christian walk in the nation for free style wrestling. And a Risen Lord You helped meet so many of our critical needs during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. Thank you!! Now we again have an opportunity to work together to share the hope that only a relationship with the living God can provide. If you’d like to help provide men and women with an Easter to remember, please mail your gift or donate at www.capitalcityrescuemission.com. Thank you! Are your plans as obsolete as the rotary phone? Having an up-to-date will means you acknowledge that everything you own has been given to you by God and want to take care of it wisely – even after your death. Did you know you can designate a gift in your will to Capital City Rescue Mission? This action will not only set a powerful example for your family, it also gives you an opportunity to invest in eternal, incorruptible Kingdom purposes too. Matt. 6:20 says “…lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in or steal” There are many life changes that indicate an update to your estate plan may be in order. Do you know what they are? Please request our free bulletin, “3 Life Changes That Will Impact Eternity.” Memorials Our heartfelt sympathy is offered to the family and friends of those remembered below. These gifts are a legacy offering hope to those in need in the Capital Region.
