Pipeline Engineering is global provider of products and
engineered solutions for the pipeline pigging and flow
assurance industry.
We provide a wide range of products and services for Oil, Gas
and Process Industries. This includes the design, procurement
and manufacture of pressure vessel and pipeline pigging
equipment used subsea, offshore and onshore.
Expertise in fabrication and machining ensures that our metal
products are designed and produced to the strictest industry
design and fabrication codes, including PED (97/23/EC),
ASME U Stamp Division 1 & 2.
We have extensive fabrication and machining
experience and are capable of producing
complex equipment.
We also supply pipeline pigging products, joint
testing products, isolation equipment, project
management and engineering support services.

Expertise in fabrication and mach ining allows a
broad range of products to be designed and produced
PE has invested in specialist machinery and equipment to develop a
state of the art Fabrication and Machining Centre. We have particular
expertise in the fabrication and machining of pressure vessel
components and equipment such as pig launching and pig receiving
systems, rapid opening end closures and pig signallers.
Our team of engineers, skilled machinists and multi-coded welders
produce products to specifications provided by clients. We offer
fabrication and machining services that meet most industry
requirements.
Rapid Opening Closure (ROC)
Specialist equipment in our Fabrication and Machining Centre
includes:
> Automatic & semi-automatic welding equipment adopting the
SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW welding processes
> Oxygen / plasma profiling machines
> Overhead travelling cranes with 30 tonne lift capacity
> Weld preparation equipment
> Dedicated test facilities with a range of test blind flanges,
studding and gaskets, calibrated chart recorders, test gauges
and hydrotest pumps

Fabrication of pig launchers and pig receivers forms a major part
of our pressure vessel supply services.
In-house design, engineering, manufacturing and testing capability is
used to fabricate bespoke pig and sphere launching and receiving
systems. This ranges from simple barrel launchers and receivers
through to complete skid mounted units with associated equipment,
including actuated valves, instrumentation, pig signallers and control
systems.
The pig launchers and receivers we fabricate are used subsea, offshore
and onshore. They are designed and manufactured to relevant pipeline
and vessel design codes, including ASME U Stamp Division 1 & 2
where applicable.
Launcher with Rapid Opening Closure
We produce launchers and receivers from 2” to 60” designed with
operating pressures up to 400 bar. Launchers and receivers are
produced in a range of materials, from low strength carbon steel, to
high strength carbon steel, and where specified, stainless steel, duplex
stainless steel and carbon steel internally clad with corrosion resistant
inconel materials.
PE also provide an Automatic Multiple Pig Launching System (AMPL)
for use on unmanned or remote locations, onshore, offshore and
subsea.

The closure system is a key part of a pressure vessel. PE’s rapid opening
closure (ROC) is an ASME VIII Div 1 compliant pressure retaining
component positioned on pipelines and pressure vessels to provide a
fast and safe access mechanism.
Rapid Opening Closure (ROC)
Designed and manufactured by our closures team, the ROC closure is an ideal access mechanism
for the full range of industry pipeline sizes. Specialist engineering design and build capability
means we can produce closures for pipelines up to 60”.
Features of ROC:
> Quick to open or close in just 30 seconds - two simple movements, removal of vent plug
and the 25º turn of the handle is all that is required to rapidly release the closure
> Available for horizontal, vertical, inclined or declined mounting
> Safe – built to meet all the international codes including the specific requirements
of ASME VIII Div 1 UG35 and key operator specifications. Up to three levels of
safety interlock to avoid opening under pressure
> Full 270º swing on the door hinge
> The hinge is simply adjusted for height/reach
> A simple and easily changed seal on most sizes making maintenance easy
> Bespoke designs available in all material specifications
Using the latest CAD/CAM in our purpose built CNC Machine Shop enables us to efficiently produce
significant quantities of closures to short lead times.
Thousands of PE’s Rapid Opening Closures have been fitted to pipelines globally.
It is one of the most widely used pipeline access systems in the world.

PE’s range of intrusive and non-intrusive pig signallers are tracking
instruments fitted to pig launcher and receiver stations to confirm the
launch or arrival of a pig. They can also be fitted at any location on a
pipeline and will detect the passage of all types of pipeline pigs.
Our intrusive Pig Signaller uses a unique magnetic system to reduce the
amount of moving parts; it therefore eliminates the risk of leakage,
reduces maintenance costs and is easy to fit to pipelines.
Non-intrusive Pig Signaller
Our non-intrusive Pig Signaller is a computerised electronic device that
allows the detection of pipeline pigs that have been fitted with either a
permanent magnet or magnetic transmitter.
PE Pig Signallers:
> Suitable for flange or boss mounted applications
> Suitable for pipe sizes from 2” upwards
> Designed for pressures up to and including Class 2500
> Do not contain dynamic seals therefore preventing leakage issues
> Can be specified to be removable under full line pressure
> Easy to operate
> Minimal maintenance required

Design Engineers are supported by a team of specialist and coded

testing and fabrication to ensure products are produced on schedule,
to specification and to the highest quality standards.

Test procedures ensure all relevant material or functional testing and
inspection requirements are adhered to throughout all phases of product
development and fabrication. This ensures products meet the highest
standards of fabrication.
We fabricate high quality products to a range of industry standards including
PED (97/23/EC) and code stamping to the ASME U1 & U2 Boiler and Pressure
