President’s Message
Summer is
Prime Time for
Identity Theft
Take These Precautions to Avoid
Becoming a Victim
Even though you’re on vacation, the
identity thieves are not. Use these
common sense tips to help keep your
personal and financial information safe:
• Never advertise on social media
sites like Facebook that you’re on
vacation.
• Have someone pick up your mail
while you are away.
• Keep checks and credit cards in a
secure, hidden location.
• Take only the credit cards and
identification that you need on
your trip.
• When using a debit or ATM card,
be wary of “shoulder surfers” who
may be watching you enter your
PIN.
• Don’t leave your wallet, purse or
other items that contain sensitive
information in your vehicle.
• Review checking, savings and
credit card statements promptly
and report discrepancies
immediately.
If you ever suspect that your account
has been compromised, please call
Latah FCU immediately so that we can
investigate and take the steps necessary
to protect you.

It’s All About Convenience
When it comes to financial services,
we know you have many options
and we’re glad you chose us. Maybe
you came to Latah FCU for our great
auto loan rates. We’re delighted that
you did! But, did you know that
Latah offers a full range of affordable
financial services? We want to be your
one-stop shop for savings, checking,
investments and credit cards as well
as real estate, vehicle and personal
loans. We realize that one of the major
factors for most people when they
choose where to do their “banking”
is convenience. We’ve worked hard
in the last year to implement the
latest technology to ensure you have
convenient access to your accounts in
a variety of ways:
Online Real-Time Home
Banking and Bill Pay
Routine transactions are just
a click away with Latah FCU’s
Home Banking available at
www.LatahFCU.com. You can
review transactions, make loan
payments, transfer funds between
accounts, download information
to your computer and much more.
While you’re there, you can pay bills
from your Latah FCU Checking
Account. Make one-time or recurring
payments to nearly anyone. You can
even schedule payments to be made
at future dates – ideal when you’re on
vacation. It’s a great way to save time,
checks and postage.
Mobile Banking
Many of you use your smart phone,
PDA or tablets when you’re on the go.
If that’s you, be sure to download our
mobile banking application that will
enable you to manage your account
from your mobile device.
Text Banking
If you don’t use a smart phone, text
banking (also known as SMS) enables
you to obtain account information
from your cell phone via text message.
You can check balances, confirm
deposits, review recent transactions
and more by simply sending text
message commands.
I encourage you to take advantage
of all that Latah FCU has to offer.
If you’re not already using these
convenience services, we invite you to
give them a try. Please give us a call or
stop by if you have any questions or
need help getting started.
Remember that at Latah FCU, you
get all the convenient services offered
by the big banks, but at a lower price,
and with the friendly personalized
service you’ve come to expect from
your credit union. We sincerely
appreciate your business and look
forward to serving you for all your
financial needs.

Scholarship Winners
We are happy to announce the
winners of the Glenda J. Hart
Scholarship, Mitchell Renfrow and
Tanner McGreal!
Getting to Know . . .
The Potlatch Branch
Mitchell Renfrow
Mitchell Renfrow is a graduated
senior from Genesee High school.
Mitchell has decided to study at the
University of Idaho, majoring in
Front L-R: Tanner McGreal and Mitchell
either Agribusiness or Agricultural
Renfrow. Back L-R, Lowell Stevens and Steven
Engineering. He has decided to
Fischer (Chairman of the Board.)
pursue a career in either of these
fields, because of his family’s history with Agriculture. Mitchell grew
up with a family that farmed, and has been working with his father
and two uncles since the age of 12. As the next generation, Mitchell will
be working with his cousins to continue the farming legacy, with an
education that will help the farm.
Tanner McGreal
Tanner McGreal is a sophomore at Lewis-Clark State College. He is
pursuing a career in the medical profession. Tanner found his passion for
the medical profession when he was just a young boy while undergoing
tests for the functionality of his left ear. This passion continued into high
school, while having CT and MRI scans for hip problems. He reaffirmed
his career path while job shadowing in the Radiology Department at
Gritman Medical Center this past year. Tanner hopes to help others, just
like he was helped by great medical staff over the course of his life.
Congratulations to these two deserving students and thank you to all
who applied.

who passed away from Pancreatic Cancer. Cancer has
affected so may lives, it is important to come together as a
community to support not only people who have cancer
but the doctors, nurses, volunteers and caregivers who deal
with it everyday. All proceeds from the event will go to the
Cancer Resource Center located inside Gritman Medical
Center. Hogfest will take place in the parking lots on the

Stuff the Bus
Stuff the Bus is a service project that has provided
school supplies to children in the Pullman, Colton and
Uniontown areas. The project has filled a serious void

of the Kiwanis Club of Pullman, Pullman Child
Welfare and participating school districts. This year,
the Moscow Kiwanis Club will join the project to
assist students in the Moscow area. This project will
also assist some 1,200 students enrolled throughout
the three participating school districts in the free and
reduced lunch program. Latah Federal Credit Union
will have a drop bin to collect school supplies to help
support the project!
Memory Walk
The 2012 Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held on
September, 29, 2012 at the Toyota of Pullman, on the
Moscow-Pullman Highway. The Walk is the largest
event to raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s
care, support and research. The event is held annually
to unite the entire community in a display of
combined strength and dedication in the fight against
this devastating disease.
