Mustang Owners Club of
Southeastern Michigan
The Mustang Owners Club of Southeastern Michigan
was founded in November 1975 by a group of individuals with
the desire to protect and preserve the Ford Mustang as one of
the most attractive and fun filled cars ever made available.
We are enthusiasts of all ages with a love affair of the many
generations of America’s Premiere Pony Car. Whether it’s a
coupe, convertible or fast back from 1964 ½ to the new 2005
GT or the 2007 Cobra, we love them all. The mission of club
members is to collect, restore and preserve the history of the
Mustang along with the stories of the people and the roles that
they played in making this one of the great cars of the 20th
Century. Although ownership is not a requirement for
membership, your enthusiasm, expertise and and/or love of the
automobile are most welcome.
Many of our club members own one or more
Mustangs in varying body styles, models and years. Club
members are always exchanging information, providing
sources for parts, literature and helpful hints for restoring or
maintaining their Mustangs. Our members are a diverse group
of individuals, located throughout Southeastern Michigan and
all share a great appreciation for the Ford Mustang. Our
general membership meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of
each month. Our monthly newsletter, The Accelerator,
provides the members with reports on club activities, technical
information, advertisements and business service locations and
more. Some club activities include car shows, picnics,
sporting events, cruise nights and technical sessions.
Membership dues for MOCSEM are $30.00 per year;
[$40.00 per/yr American funds for Canadians.]

As I am sure you have noticed, this is the first special issue of the Accelerator since we decided to adopt the newsletter format earlier
this year. The feedback from membership clearly indicated that we should publish special issues with color to cover events such as the
Mustang Memories Show. We also decided to mail out this issue by envelope so it would not be damaged or folded. Extra copies of
this newsletter will be distributed to sponsors and other people who helped make Mustang Memories possible.
By any measure, Mustang Memories was a great success. The key word to describe this year’s show was “MORE”. We had more
major sponsors who not only donated money but also provided goods and donated services for our product raffle and goody bags.
Many of the major sponsors also donated their time by displaying special interest cars at our show and providing people for booths to
answer questions or sell products. More show cars appeared for this years’ show than last year (365 vs. 315) and the number of spaces
sold in the swap meet increased over last year. We achieved the higher attendance despite an MCA Regional event only 4 hours away
on the same weekend. More clothing and merchandise choices were provided which resulted in the highest sales we have ever had at a
show. All in all, I believe Mustang Memories provided both the show participants and the spectators with the best one day Mustang
and Ford experience available anywhere.
The show was a great success in generating money for MOCSEM charities. There are still a few bills to pay and donations won’t be
made until closer to the end of the year, but it is safe to say that well over $5000 of charitable contributions was raised from the show
proceeds. We will provide details of the donations in a future newsletter.
I would like to recognize the high quality of all the show cars this year. Many club members who worked the show and numerous
spectators commented that they had never seen quite this many top-notch cars at past shows. The special award winners and class
winners can be especially proud of their achievement. It really speaks to the health of our hobby when so many cars are being expertly
restored and preserved.
Finally, MOCSEM would like to thank all the people that make our show a success. Special thanks goes to all the sponsors who
provide support with donations of money, prize merchandise, gift certificates, and the special displays at the show. Many of our
sponsors have been with us for years and some are brand new, but all of you are a vital part of the show and you have been recognized
on other pages in this issue. We hope you will join us again next year as sponsors and we ask our club members and other friends to
support your business throughout the year. MOCSEM also thanks the car owners and vendors for choosing to attend our show. There
are many choices for what to do each weekend and we are thankful you chose to come to our event. There is no show without you.
And finally I would like to thank all the club members and the Greenmead staff that worked during the show day and prior to make
sure the event flowed smoothly. Special recognition goes to Phil Smith for his year-round efforts to plan, improve, and organize the
show. His efforts ensure that the show will only get better each year. The club has already generated a number of improvements for
next year’s show. I can hardly wait!

My partner Paul Beard and I did the complete restoration of the Black '68 GT 500 Shelby convertible owned by Rick Nash that won the
"Best of Show" at Mustang Memories Car Show. We are currently finishing two Shelby's and have an opening coming up soon at our
shop in Saint Charles, MI. In our haste to get to the show we forgot to bring enough business cards and several people asked about our
work. We were wondering if we could take out an ad in your next newsletter or maybe have you do an article about our shop and our
quality work. We are looking to get more exposure and grow our business. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for a great
show and great award.
The Restoration of #2750 1968 GT 500.
Like the story goes "found behind a house" in Florida, car # 2750 was purchased by Richard Nash and shipped home to midMichigan. Rick contracted Tri City Mustang Restoration, Inc. of St. Charles, MI to perform a complete bumper-to-bumper restoration.
The body and matching drive train were stripped, the body was media blasted, and then all metal work and alignment
issued were addressed. Paul Beard of TCMR, Inc. performed the body work and paint. All drive line components were rebuilt to factory,
MCA and SAAC specifications with attention to detail by owner Jeff James. The restoration took just over 1 year to complete. The car
was debuted at the MOCSEM's Mustang Memories car show where it won the Shelby class and also, the greatest award, "BEST OF
SHOW." All work, with the exception of media blasting, was performed by TCMR, Inc.
