 2016 Scholarship Summary Fair Chance Scholarship The Washington State Fair Foundation is pleased to present scholarship opportunities to local students for continuing education. Scholarship awards are made possible through the generosity of the Foundation’s donors and Board of Directors. Scholarship Description: The Fair Chance Scholarship is awarded to fourteen students from across the state of Washington pursuing higher education. The $3,000 awards are payable over two years ($1,500 each year). All funds are paid directly to the recipient’s college or university to be used toward tuition or books. Criteria:  Attending (Fall 2016) an accredited two or four year college, university or trade/technical school  Currently working, volunteering or involved in a school‐sponsored activity at least 8 hours per month, on average  Prior involvement with the Fair (4H, FFA, etc.) and financial need may be considered, though neither is a requirement Process: Submit completed application packet to the Foundation no later than Friday, February 12, 2016. Packet should include:  Completed application form  Most recent copy of transcript (unofficial)  Two letters of recommendation: one from a scholastic contact and one from an employment or volunteer contact or advisor of school‐sponsored activity. Both letters should include contact information and must have been written within the last 12 months. Letters written by relatives of the applicant are not allowed.
