On behalf of The Guardsmen and the Giants Community Fund,
we would like to welcome you to The Fairmont Hotel San Francisco
and to our 27th Annual Celebrity Dinner & Sports Auction!
This evening is a result of a decision by our two organizations to
work together to produce a very memorable evening to benefit
underserved Bay Area youth – a shared charitable pursuit.
Tonight we are excited to have here with us many members of the
San Francisco Giants organization, San Francisco 49ers, Oakland
Raiders, and other local athletes. We thank them and their families
for being here and for giving their time to help make this event both
enjoyable and successful.
Since 1947, The Guardsmen’s all-volunteer membership has raised
millions of dollars to provide thousands of Bay Area children the
opportunity to attend summer camps each year and to receive
scholarships to attend local private grade schools and high schools.
Since 1991, the Giants Community Fund has used baseball as a
forum to encourage underserved youth and their families to live
healthy, productive lives. With the support of individuals, businesses
and community partners, the Fund has reached thousands of youth
through the Junior Giants program and other community initiatives.
Finally, we extend our special thanks to all of our generous sponsors
and donors without whom this event would be significantly less
beneficial to our kids, and to our volunteers, who have donated
hundreds of hours of their valuable time to make of this event a
reality. Please support these companies and thank these individuals.
We hope you have a wonderful evening!

The Guardsmen reserves the right to withdraw any lot before or at time of
sale or to combine two or more lots. The property listed in this program may
be amended by addendum sheet or oral announcement before or during
the sale.
Bidding: Upon registration at the check-in table, each guest will receive a
program with an individual bidding “paddle number” on the back, and
a device hosting BidPal Network software or access to BidPal Network
software. Silent Auction bidding will be made electronically through BidPal
Network software only, and Live Auction bidding will be by bidding paddle
numbers only.
Most important: Do not mislay your paddle. Guests are responsible for all
purchases made by the paddle number assigned to them upon arrival.
Silent Auction: All bids will be made electronically through BidPal Network
software or device. Bidding will close at approximately 8:00 PM, PST. When
the silent auction closes, the highest bidder on each item identified through
BidPal Network software or device will be considered purchaser of the item.
Live Auction: The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall
be the buyer. The auctioneer has the right to reject any bid and to
advance the bid at his absolute discretion and, in any event of dispute
between bidders, to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer and
resell the article in dispute. Should there be any dispute after the sale,
The Guardsmen record of sale shall be conclusive. On the fall of the
auctioneer’s hammer, the buyer assumes the full risk and responsibility for
the lot and will be required to sign a confirmation of purchase and pay the
full purchase price. Receipt of payment shall be deemed the completion
of sale.
Notice: Most live auction packages require cooperative planning
between the purchaser and The Guardsmen. We appreciate our buyers’
understanding of our efforts to secure quality packages given constraints
for donated airline mileage and hotel awards. Timing and scheduling issues
may arise as part of the planning of travel-related packages.
We appreciate your cooperation.
Estimated Sale Price/Federal Income Tax Information: If an estimated price
is provided for a lot, this price is intended only as a rough guide for bidding
and does not constitute a representation or assurance of the fair market
value of the lot. Amounts paid in excess of the fair market value may be
deductible for federal income tax purposes. Bidders should consult their
own tax advisors.
Sales Tax: California requires that we charge sales tax on all personal
property auctioned at this event. A local sales tax will be automatically
calculated and added to your invoice at the applicable rate in effect in
the City and County of San Francisco at the time of the auction.
Unless otherwise specified, all items must be used by February 5, 2016.

The Guardsmen Salute Warrior Canine Connection
Warrior Canine Connection (WCC) is a pioneering organization
that utilizes clinically based Canine Connection Therapy to
empower returning combat Veterans who have sustained
physical and psychological wounds while in service to our
country. Based on the concept of Warriors helping Warriors,
WCC’s therapeutic service dog training program is designed to
mitigate symptoms of post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain
injuries, and other challenges. At the same time, it provides
injured combat Veterans with a sense of purpose by involving
them in the training of service dogs. The training helps them
to re-integrate back into their families and communities, and
creates a potential career path as a service dog trainer.
The WCC “Healing Quarters” is located in Brookeville, Maryland,
and provides therapeutic programming to Service Members in
recovery at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center,
the National Intrepid Center of Excellence and Fort Belvoir. Our
West Coast division is operated out of the VA Palo Alto Health
Care System (VAPAHCS) and works with Veterans and Active
Duty Military in over 14 different treatment programs within
the VAPAHCS. To date, over 1,000 Veterans in California have
benefitted from their engagement in the therapeutic process
Warrior Canine Connection offers in the Bay Area.
