Jack’s friends. They want to help him.
Slurp asks for rent money from Jack and Dame
Daisy to give to Giant Blunderbore. Dame Daisy
and Jack have to sell Buttercup the cow for
money to pay the rent.
On his way to market with Buttercup, Jack meets
an Enchantress. The Enchantress gives Jack
some magic beans in exchange for Buttercup.
Dame Daisy is angry with Jack because he didn’t
get any money for Buttercup. Dame Daisy throws
the beans outside.
A huge beanstalk grows behind the cottage. Jack
climbs up the beanstalk. When Jack gets to the
32
top of the beanstalk, he goes inside Giant
Blunderbore’s castle. Jack meets Mrs
Blunderbore, the Giant’s wife. Mrs Blunderbore
tells Jack to hide in the oven.
The giant has a magic harp and a golden hen that
lays golden eggs. Annie and Danny climb the
beanstalk too.

A long time ago, the giant’s brother stole the
magic harp and the golden hen from Jack’s dad.
Giant Blunderbore explains that he is not an angry
giant. He is a shy giant.
Jack invites Giant Blunderbore to come down the
beanstalk and meet his friends. Jack asks Annie
to marry him. Annie says yes. They have a big
party and everyone is happy.
