Your Royal Highness... Convert a wheelchair into a throne,
by wrapping the back and arm rests with gold or silver foil/
paper. Use plastic gems, old jewelry, and Christmas garland to
give it that “special look”. Simply wear a cape of a royal color
(velvet looks great). Complete the look with a crown.
King Riding a Horse
Ride in style with this great costume. Look
for a kids riding horse and attach it to the
wheelchair. Drape a couple of bed sheets
around the wheelchair and the horse, to
cover them up. To create the look of a king,
look for a cape of a royal color. Complete
the look with a crown and a scepter.

Halloween Safety Tips
Costumes
• Don’t allow children to wear face paint without testing it first, it may irritate their skin or trigger allergies.
• Don’t leave candles burning unattended. Opt for electric lights.
• Make sure store bought costumes and accessories (such as wigs, hats, and masks) are flame-retardant.
It should be stated on the label.
• Masks and facial coverings should be well-ventilated for easy breathing.
• Swords, knives, and similar accessories should be made of soft, flexible material.
• Be careful when using colored, cosmetic contact lenses. They should be used only under the supervision of
an eye-care professional. The wear time should be limited to the shortest duration possible.
Trick-or-Treating
• Children younger than 12 years old should not be allowed to go trick or treating by themselves.
• If an older child or young teen is going out with friends, make sure that you know where they are going
and who they are going with.
• Different cities have varying age limits for trick-or-treaters. Know your city’s ordinance.
• Travel in groups. Make sure someone in the group carries a charged call phone.
• Wear bright, reflective costumes, carry glow sticks, flashlights, or add strips of reflective tape so you’ll be
more visible; make sure the costumes aren’t long so that you don’t trip.
• Children should trick-or-treat only in well-lit areas and should only visit homes that have their outside lights
turned on, no alleys or dark side streets.
• Talk to your children about strangers. Never, ever let your children go into a stranger’s house, car, and don’t
let them talk to strangers unless you are with them or you say it’s okay.
• Be respectful of homeowner’s property. Do not traipse through yards - use sidewalks if possible.
• Don’t eat candy until it has been inspected at home by an adult. It’s a good idea for trick-or-treaters to eat a
snack before heading out, so they won’t be tempted to nibble on treats that haven’t been inspected.
