Taylor Statten Camping Bursary Fund Overview:
Sending kids in need to camp!
Named after Taylor Statten I,
a true pioneer of residential
camping in Canada, the
Bursary has helped fund
over 1000 summer camp
experiences at over eight
different camps and we are
working hard to ensure there
are another 1000 to come.
The volunteers that constitute
the Board of Directors believe,
as did ‘Chief’, that the life skills
learned and experiences
earned from summers at
camp are pivotal in shaping
healthy futures for the young
people we help each year.
Taylor Statten Camping Bursary Fund Operations
To d a y , w e m a n a g e a
significant endowment worth
over $500,000. The endowment
was created following the
publishing of The Fires of
Friendship – Eighty Years of
the Taylor Statten Camps.
Due to the significant funds
generated by the book, the
Fund incorporated, created
a thorough set of policies and
procedures, and expanded
our Board of Directors to ensure
that well-rounded, educated
decisions were being made.
We have grown the endowment through bequests, annual
donations, and the inclusion of
a number of new funds from
within the TSC community as
well as some of our member
camps. The endowment
has ensured the continued
operation of the Bursary Fund.
The Event
Last year’s event was attended
by over 400 guests, which
helped send 28 campers to
6 camps across Canada this
s u m m e r. W i t h h e l p f r o m
sponsors like yourselves, we are
hoping to send even more kids
to camp next year!
2013 marks our fourth annual
art show, the third at the
Evergreen Brick Works. This
year’s event will again feature
live music, hors d’oeuvres,
refreshments and a number
of Canadian artists. Work on
display will have been inspired
in some way by Ontario
outside of the city and
within. Responding to it and
celebrating it.
