From the President
Well football is well and truly is underway with a very successful sign-on. We welcomed many
new players and their families, including Mums & Dads. We hope you enjoy the season.
Stay tuned as more details of training start dates comes up in the newsletter and on our Facebook site.
Can I also welcome the Auskickers, the biggest year the club has had. With over 20 having a run
on a Thursday afternoon this is surely a great start for our club. And what about the masters
team which is taking shape, have a look at a couple of the training pictures further in the newsletter.
Well done to everyone involved off field as well, Thanks Halie for your untiring efforts and Shane
for keeping the ground marked and ready to go. I would also like to mention that one of the club
sponsors Farmcraft has won a significant award “CRT 2015 Queensland retailer of the year”
award. Farmcraft joined our sponsorship in 2014 when we were upgrading the ground and has
continued this year with involvement not only in the club but in the powering ahead group which
is the consortium funding the scoping study to improve the power to the Kalbar Showgrounds
which in turn we hope will see arena lights in a few years. Alistair and the team at Farmcraft on
behalf of everyone at the Falcons congratulations on winning the award.
I hope everyone is looking forward to the season ahead with a reminder it doesn't just happen
we need volunteers to step up and play a role.

More work has been undertaken with the start of the onsite
visit by DMA electrical engineers, a very thorough assessment
was undertaken in the presence of Neil Goetsch President of
the Show Society and David Edgeworth Coordinator of the
project. The first stage of understanding the power issues has
been directed to Energex who will respond by saying their is
not enough power to do what we want . The application process along with an acceptance of what Energex propose will
be about a six to 8 month period. That will provide enough
time to work out what grants are on offer. We appreciate the
support of the “Powering Ahead Group”

We are SO CLOSE to getting our full Masters team together! Just needing the last few players to join in!
If you, your brother, dad, cousin, in-laws, mates, co-worker, boss or distant facebook acquaintance are aged 35 or over and have
any interest in playing AFL for a bit of fun, get in touch with Pat O'Neill on 0409 718 587. We may be able to have a few underage players (turning 33 or 34 this year), but there is a limit so will be first in, first play - register now to secure your spot.
Games are played fortnightly with the first round set for the weekend of 2nd April.
Training is on Tuesdays from 5.30 for about an hour with a beer at the pub afterwards! Meet at the cricket nets at Coronation
Park. All welcome to turn up & go from there. Registration is an easy online form found at www.fassifernfalcons.org.au/join, fees
are $160 per player all inclusive, no extra for playing uniform.
Any business owners who have considered becoming a team sponsor to get their logo on the jerseys, contact the club soon; the
gear will be ordered in the next two weeks by which time it will be too late.
Go Falcons!

SIGN ON - A SUCCESS
Congratulations to Alex Wilson, winner of the early sign-on prize of a family
ticket to an AFL game this year!
Thank you to the players who have registered to play AFL this season and welcome
back! To all our new players, thanks for coming down and welcome to the club!
Anyone who would like to play but hasn't registered yet, there is still time, the easiest way
is to use your smart phone or tablet and follow the link from our website. New players will need to provide proof of
age, taking a photo with your smart phone or tablet to upload at registration is acceptable.
We have players for each age group and are looking for a few more to come along and give AFL a try.
Thanks to the committee, headed up by Halie Hornby, who made the sign on a resounding success. We had a
team of volunteers cooking the BBQ, kicking the footy around on the field, giving away Lions sample bags and
registering players. Thanks also to Ben who came down to meet and greet some of the new members.
