own around Cincinnati way, actually to the east of the city at the
intersection of Rte 50 & Rte 132 in a small town called Ownesville, is
an event that’s been going on for the past 32 years called the Pumpkin Run Nationals. The event is put on by the Fastiques Car Club and gets
well over 3,000 vehicles.
Although the Ohio Valley Chapter of the Falcon Club of America isn’t the
largest car club around, it produced 35 Falcons for the trip to the Pumpkin
Run and that’s more than most clubs can do even at a regular cruise-in.
Friday was there slow day of only 2,200 cars showed up at the Clermont
County Fairgrounds but Saturday was huge, even the 50/50 netted a lady
over $11,000 and the Sunday winner got $14,000.
The club started out in the greater Cincinnati area and will be celebrating our fourth anniversary in the spring of 2008. The founding members of
the club were John Howard, Ed Schmidtgesling, Jerry York, Terry Rakes and
Jim Norvell. We met in various ways either at the Pumpkin Run and local
cruise-ins or through the Falcon Club of America membership directory.
Initially a group of us went to Somerset KY. for the Somernites CruiseIn and got to talking about forming a local chapter of the Falcon Club of
America and the Ohio Valley Chapter was born.
Another way our club grew was through the Falcon Mini Meet that we
have held for the last three years in conjunction with The Pumpkin Run
Nationals in Owensville OH. which is where all these pictures were taken.
Through this meet and our website the club has grown tremendously.
We now have approximately forty members, so considering 35 cars
making it to an event is awesome and also considering the membership is
spread out from Louisville Kentucky to Wooster Ohio. You might see us at
Somernites in Somerset KY or maybe in Columbus OH at one of the all Ford
