The Ferrari 308 GTB was the successor to the Dino 308 GT4. Indeed, when the new Ferrari was first spotted testing
in Italy, the ‘Prancing Horse’ magazine in the US called the 308 GTB ‘a very new Dino’. While the production car was
Ferrari-badged from day one, it shared many of the Dino’s star qualities.
The engine, driveline, suspension, steering and brakes are shared with the 308 GT4, but to style the car, Ferrari
returned to Pininfarina rather than work with Bertone again. The svelte lines penned by Leonardo Fioravanti at
Pininfarina remain as stunning today as they were when first revealed in 1975.
In 1977, the Ferrari 308 GTS was introduced, which featured the added benefit of a black targa roof panel that
could be easily removed and stowed in the cabin behind the seats.
This particular Ferrari 308 GTS is an original right-hand-drive example, first registered in the UK in August 1980. It
is presented in red (Rosso Corsa) over beige (Sabbia) hide with Corda carpets, and still has its original and correct
shallow front spoiler. The factory specification included air-conditioning.
The beautiful interior has outstanding patina with the all-original leather trim. The car sits on its original 14 inch
Ferrari wheels shod with Michelin XWX tyres, exactly as it was in period.
There is a lovely history file accompanying this Ferrari 308 GTS, including numerous old MOT certificates and
invoices for works carried out. This Ferrari 308 GTS was first introduced to Foskers in 2012. Since then Foskers
have carried out yearly maintenance for its owner with the last Annual service in April 2015 where the odometer
showed 47,017 miles.
Currently the odometer reads 48,384 miles from new.
