Known for being a cycle friendly region, one of the best ways to experience Cornwall and the Counties is by bike. Not
only does the region represent one of the most impressive sections of the famed Waterfront Trail cycle path, but hundreds of
kilometers of carefully designed cycle loops of varying distances and degrees of difficulty are available to you on our Cornwall
and the Counties Cycle Map. Wide paved shoulders are available throughout many of our beautiful county roads with so much
to see and do along the way, while the City of Cornwall has introduced additional bike lanes, bicycle racks, and rest areas that
make it easier to travel throughout the city by bike.

Fish it!
The St. Lawrence River is a multispecies
angler’s paradise, and the Cornwall and the
Counties region is a prime example. The diverse
structure of the river and the ample supply of
forage fish make it an ideal habitat for some of
Ontario’s most sought after sport and coarse
fish, including the Musky, Northern Pike,
Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, and Carp.

Le fleuve Saint-Laurent est le paradis des
pêcheurs de poisson d’espèces variées et
la région de Cornwall et les Comtés en est un
exemple convaincant. Le fleuve présente une
structure diversifiée et il recèle de grandes
quantités de poisson fourrage, ce qui crée un
habitat idéal pour les espèces de poisson d’eau
douce les plus recherchées par les pêcheurs
sportifs, dont le maskinongé, le brochet, le doré
jaune, l’achigan et la carpe.

Attracting angler’s from around the globe, the carp found
in Cornwall and the Counties are always up for putting up a
fight. 30 to 40 pound carp are common for shore anglers and
can be caught with bait as simple as corn kernels.

If you haven’t been to Archie’s you really haven’t
visited Cornwall. We’ve been hanging around
giving people a good time forever. We’re cheap

On the banks of the St. Lawrence River, The Ontario Power Generation Visitor Centre
provides interpretive exhibits and detailed information about The St. Lawrence Seaway and
Power Project, one of the most important engineering accomplishments that have shaped not
only our region, but also the entire nation.

Perhaps one of the most beautiful areas of the region, the Long Sault Parkway connects
11 islands that were created during the St. Lawrence Seaway Project. A popular route for
cyclists and Sunday drivers, The Long Sault Parkway also offers hundreds of campsites, a
collection of beaches, picnic areas and is a prominent geocaching location to enjoy the area
all summer long.

This National Historic Site is a beautiful sight to behold. One of the earliest Roman Catholic
churches in English-speaking Canada, the church of St. Raphaels was consumed by flames
in 1970, leaving only the beautifully crafted stone walls. Visit this stunning historical site on a

Historic Cornwall Jail

Built in 1834 and remaining open until 2002,
the Historic Cornwall Jail provides an accurate
representation of how inmates were housed until its
closure. The Jail consists of holding cells, visitation
areas, the exercise yard, and even the gallows where

until 2002, the Historic Cornwall Jail has been
maintained in its condition as the day the last
inmate was removed from behind its bars. Tour
the holding cells, visitation areas, common
areas, exercise yard and even the gallows at
this historic site in Downtown Cornwall.

St. Lawrence Seaway and Power Project that
resulted in the flooding and relocation of local
communities to create new towns and villages

building was re-stabilized and opened for

Originally built for Loyalist leader Sir John
Johnson between 1784 and 1792, this beautiful
home is one of the oldest surviving homes in
Ontario. Today, the home is a National Historic
Site and used to house the Glengarry Archives,
including church records, maps, land records,

Declared a National Historic Site in 1999,
the ruins in St. Raphaels were once one of the
earliest Roman Catholic churches in English
speaking Canada. When a fire consumed the
church in 1970, the outer walls were all that
remained of the massive structure.
