The Complete Chopin Studies
Main project
This work presents a great challenge for any pianist. For the 2015-2016 season
up to Winter of 2017, Antoine Joubert offers you all 27 Chopin Studies from
opus 10, 25 and the Brown-Index 130. The writing of the studies was considered
to be revolutionary for Chopin’s time and remains today a reference in the
understanding of piano playing. The studies are not only highly virtuosic, but
incredibly expressive and beautiful. Chopin’s eloquent poetry presents a wide
range of characters, from tenderness, fragility and charm to rage, passion,
sadness and joy. For these reasons, they cannot be considered as simple
exercises; they are masterpieces. It’s very interesting to hear the evolution of the
writing of Chopin from one study to the next. Even though Chopin did not
intend them to be played as a whole the way he intended for his preludes, for
example, he organized the studies in a logical and contrasting way that goes far
beyond both the expressive and technical limits of the piano writing of his time.
The Golberg Variations in 2017-2018
Next project
The next solo project of Antoine Joubert is another great challenge: the
Goldberg Variations by J.S. Bach. He shall start playing them in Fall of 2017.

-Leslie Howard, pianist, Camposampiero, Italy, 2012
Mr Joubert is an excellent pianist and, more importantly, an intelligent, sensitive artist,
whose playing is at once scholarly and full of personal charm. He possesses very fine
keyboard skills and thorough general musicianship. All of his performances that I have
heard – across a broad and challenging repertoire – have been of the highest order, never
more so than in his incisive and compelling playing of the extraordinary piano music of
Janá!ek. He is a man of unimpeachable probity, good humour and reliability.
A pianist with deep musicality. Thank you, Antoine Joubert.
