finish options
Variations in finish appearance are a normal and desired result of the process,
rendering each piece an individual and unique work of art.
MAHOGANY (-03)
BRONZE (-05)
DARK SMOKE (-07)
TRANSLUCENT FINISHES –
MAHOGANY, BRONZE , DARK SMOKE AND BURNISHED STEEL –
provide a window to the metal beneath, allowing the full story to be told of how each piece was made. There will be a
darker appearance when applied over areas that are distressed by both heat and the work of the craftsman, reflecting the
temper, colors, scaling, hammering, and bending. On open areas of bar or sheet, such as a backplate, the finish is lighter
and deliberately uneven, with the depth of hue varying by the thickness of the applied material.
Below in Dark Smoke (07) finish are examples of the different textures and patterns seen through our translucent finishes.

OPAQUE FINISHES –
BLACK, NATURAL IRON –
are the traditional finish choices for coloring metal and protecting it from rusting and marring.
Opaque finishes provide a full covering of the metal and do not provide the window to the metal beneath that the
translucent finishes afford. The choice between opaque and translucent finishes is an individual preference.
We strive to show the most accurate color possible. However, due to the limitations and variations of photography
and the printing processes, representations here may not be exact.

OPAQUE FINISHES
FORMULATED SPECIALLY FOR
OUTDOOR APPLICATIONS–
Our outdoor fixtures are made from aluminum rather than steel. Aluminum, when finished with our
opaque powder-coating, provides the best possible protection from rust and corrosion. But unlike steel,
there is little character to the surface of the aluminum. In response to this we have designed special
opaque Mahogany, Bronze, Dark Smoke and Burnished Steel finishes that match their translucent counterparts
in color and hue and create a look similar to the depth and interest of steel.

ACCENTS – ELEMENTS
accent options
Combine the metalwork from the
forge with natural materials such
as wood, slate and copper and the
result is the Hubbardton Forge®
Elements Collection of lamps,
pendants and sconces. This unique
mixing of shapes, textures, colors,
and surfaces adds an “element of
interest” to any decor.

ESPRESSO ASH
The natural tones of warm cherry
and clean maple juxtaposed on
wrought iron enhance the designs
of the lamps and fixtures in the
Elements Collection. The beautiful
hardwoods are milled and handfinished in the northern regions of
the Green Mountain State.
Care: Because the wood is
finished with a catalyzed lacquer,
no special care is needed.
The rich, warm, dark tones of our
Espresso Ash finish, combined
with our line of opaque and translucent metal colors, are a natural
complement to transitional and
contemporary furniture and interiors. The rugged solid ash elements
are milled and hand-finished here
in Vermont. Please note: this is
solid hardwood ash, not a veneer.
Care: Because the wood is
finished with a catalyzed lacquer,
no special care is needed.
SIERRA PATINA COPPER
These unique finishes on our
copper accents are achieved by
heating and oxidizing the surface
of raw copper. The hand-etched
and fired process then creates a
striking and unique appearance,
with each piece inherently different. From rich textures ranging
in color from fiery tangerine to
bronze greens, no two pieces
are alike. Any two sierra patina
copper versions will therefore
complement but not match
each other.
Care: The surface of the copper
accented pieces may be gently
wiped with a soft damp cloth
using a spray wax if desired.
Never scrub or use an abrasive.
No solvent-based or ammonia
cleaning products should be used
on copper surfaces.
-CP SIERRA PATINA COPPER
SLATE
The slate used on fixtures within
the Elements Collection comes to
us from quarries located within
ten miles of our Castleton, Vermont manufacturing facility. Each
piece is exactingly cut, producing
a unique exposure of cleft space
and ensuring no two pieces of
slate will be alike.
Care: Although slate is a very
durable and forgiving material, it
may break, chip or scratch if improperly handled. A scratch to the
surface may be gently rubbed out
with a light abrasive by blending
it into the surrounding area.
For a richer color, we recommend applying a light coating of
mineral oil or wax to the surface
once or twice a year.

shade options
The Specification Book contains a
comprehensive listing of shade options.
All shade options have an item number
beginning with 25. The last two digits
of this item number refer to the shade
material and correspond to the pictures
on this page.
All shade options also have a threedigit or two-letter code, listed in the
Specification Book. For ease of ordering,
this code may be attached to the end of a
lamp number so that the lamp and shade
can be ordered as one unit with one price.

PEARL GLASS:
NEW Our new Pearl
Glass is a softer and
more subtlety interesting
option to the Opal Glass.
A matte, light cream color
when unlit, it glows warm
with very unique, delicate
patterns of undulating
clouds when lit.

STONE GLASS:
Stone Glass is another
softer and warmer alternative to our Opal Glass,
with stronger patterning
than that on our Pearl
Glass. A transitional glass,
Stone has a combination
of earthy hues of warm
ivory, beige and sand with
flecks of grey striations
suggesting natural stone
when unlit. It takes on a
warmer glow when lit.

TOPAZ ART GLASS
Please refer to the
Specification Book for
details regarding glass
options available for
each product.
PLEASE NOTE :
Small blemishes and
bubbles are inherent
in hand-blown glass
and are not considered
defects.
Due to the nature of the
glass-making process,
the pattern and balance
of color in the glass may
vary significantly within
a piece and from one
piece to another. It is
the individuality of
each piece that is so
sought after.
We strive to show the
most accurate color
possible. However,
due to the limitations
and variations of the
photography and
printing processes,
representations here
may not be exact.
We purchase our glass
domestically whenever
possible, however much
of our glass is sourced
internationally.
