Cyranose® Global System
Global solution for pulmonary and phonatory rehabilitation
after a total laryngectomy
C
yranose® Global System consists of a series of devices
made for practitioners and laryngectomy patients for the
pulmonary and phonatory rehabilitation of the latter, with or
without a voice prosthesis.
The immediate care of the patients after the total laryngectomy begins
with the CyTubeMajor™, a laryngectomy tube and tracheostoma support
connecting :
• The CyAdaptor™ with the foam filter and secretion trap of the Cyranose®
HME*, for pulmonary rehabilitation at the hospital.
• The Cyranose® HME*, upon the patient’s return home.
CyAdaptor™
CyValveFreedom™
Cyranose® HME*
Tracheodouche™
CyGripOne™
• The automatic valve or CyValveFreedom™ by means of the universal
adaptor or CyAdaptor™ for phonatory rehabilitation, combined with the
secretion trap and foam filter of the Cyranose® HME* for pulmonary
rehabilitation.
These devices will help laryngectomy patients in their pulmonary and
phonatory rehabilitation during their entire lifetime. For laryngectomy
patients requiring a tube at home, the CyGripOne™ is specially designed
to be worn under the Cyranose® HME*, thereby avoiding the need to wear
a tube fastener.
CyTubeMajor™
Cyranose® HME*
• The shower protector or Tracheodouche™, allowing a shower to be taken
without any risk for the lungs during the entire lifetime of the patient.
Simple and easy to position, the devices proposed as part of the global
solution provided by the Cyranose® Global System, are also characterised
by optimised efficacy, since the Heat and Moisture Exchanger may be used
almost immediately after the operation.

A
tube for laryngectomy patients, the CyTubeMajor™
is also a support that, immediately after the surgery
or even a long time after surgery, is used to receive the
different components of the Cyranose® Global System, in
particular the Cyranose® HME* .
!After the end of radiotherapy :
For laryngectomy patients that have to continue to wear a tube on an
occasional or permanent basis, the CyTubeMajor™ may be used with :
• The Cyranose® Heat and Moisture Exchanger.
• The CyValveFreedom™, a hands-free valve for phonation, by means of
the CyAdaptor™.
• The Tracheodouche™**, protection during a shower.
Made of medical silicon, it is extremely comfortable to wear and
does not damage the tracheal mucosa of the patient when put
in place or removed on a daily basis. Fully corresponding with
the movements of the neck, it does not provoke discomfort in
the everyday life of the laryngectomy patient.
Available in several lengths and diameters to adapt to all sizes of
tracheostoma, the CyTubeMajor™ also comes in a fenestrated
version for patients with a voice prosthesis, in order to allow for
the passage of air in the prosthesis at the time of the obstruction
of the tracheostoma during phonation.

The secretion trap made of medical
stainless steel : decisive assets !
The use of medical stainless
steel provides exceptional
performance to create the
condensation and recover
heat and humidity
A laryngectomy induces a major change in the respiratory
system : absence of filtration, reheating and humidification.
Every season and everywhere, the laryngectomy patient is fully
subject to variations in the ambient air: dryness in summer
as well as in winter with certain systems of heating, sudden
cooling in winter as well as in summer with air-conditioned
rooms, pollen in the spring… Since the air inhaled is no longer
filtered or heated or humidified by the upper respiratory tract,
the respiratory system is particularly exposed: hypersensitivity
of the epithelium, pollution and inhalation of particles, increase
in the volume of the mucus, dryness and irritation, mucous
scabs and plugs. The Cyranose® HME* aims at reducing these
disagreements by restoring a system of air-conditioning that
compensates for the elimination of the natural system.

Cyranose® is made up of 5 elements
The
of the Cyranose® HME*
!With all of its components, Cyranose® HME* restores an
air-processing system that is close to natural breathing :
Double sided adhesive
Hypoallergenic, for normal or
sensitive skin.
Base
In medical silicon. Its diameter ensures
easy cleaning of the tracheostoma and
the voice prosthesis, where fitted.
Secretion Trap : Double grid with
tight mesh made of medical stainless
steel. Easy to clean using lukewarm
and soapy water or boiling water.
Filter
Open-cells polyurethane foam.
Casing
100 % medical stainless steel, closed by
a springoperated obstruction valve for
the voice prosthesis.
Air-filtering performance similar to that of the upper respiratory
tract,
Reduction in coughing, and hence secretions
Humidification of the respiratory tract, preventing the formation of
mucous scabs and plugs
Improvement in breathing
Improved performances in terms of heat and humidity recovery
because of the metal composition
!From a practical point of view, the Cyranose® HME*:
Makes it possible to breathe while coughing
Facilitates cleaning of the tracheostoma since it is not necessary
to remove the adhesive

Patients especially dread a shower, as it may lead to serious
discomfort when water enters the tracheostoma and the lungs
resulting in highly disagreeable fits of coughing.
A device incorporated in the Cyranose® Global System, the
Tracheodouche™ permanently avoids these disadvantages.

This shower protector makes it possible to have a shower
without any regrettable consequences for the lungs, even ten
days after the operation, in association with the CyTubeMajor™,
to which it is connected. It may then be worn by patients after
hospitalisation, without limit in time, each time that they want
to have a shower.

CyValveFreedom™ is fastened on the CyAdaptor™
universal adaptor and assembled, either on the
CyTubeMajor™ tube/support, or on the base of the
Cyranose® HME*. This device allows the laryngectomy
patient with a voice prosthesis to speak, without
having to manually obstruct his tracheostoma. The
CyValveFreedom™ is based on a simple principle,
that of a pre-formed silicon membrane that, during
a more sustained or forced expiration, spreads out to
close the opening of the valve.
During this period, the CyValveFreedom™ may be used with the
CyTubeMajor™ under the control of the practitioner and speech
therapist.

!After the end of radiotherapy :
When the patient has acquired a good tracheo-oesophageal voice and
his tracheal breath, he may then wear the CyValveFreedom™ with the
