A quarterly publication of Glendale Moose Lodge 2243, Chapter 1642
November, December & January 2015
Calling all HIGHER DEGREE members
The Lodge and Chapter are looking for volunteers to serve as officers for the Higher Degree Committee. Ladies, if you have your Academy of Friendship, Star Recorder or College of Regents Degree, you are qualified.
Men, if you are a Legion member, or have a Fellowship Degree or Pilgrim Degree, you too are qualified.
The time commitment to serve as an officer of this committee is considerably less than that of other offices;
however, the role you’ll play is just as important. Please consider stepping up for your lodge or chapter. If
interested and need more details, please see your Governor, George Coy, Senior Regent, Ginger Wofford, or
the Lodge Administrator, Bob Turek.
Congratulations to John Hinkle!
If you’ve ever been to the lodge early in the morning, you’ve probably seen John
Hinkle in there working. In fact, any time of the day you might catch him doing
something - receiving groceries, changing light bulbs, setting up for Friday
Fish Fry, working in the kitchen, repairing whatever is broken, pulling weeds,
doing the set-up for the women’s meeting, engineering a creative way of helping
the Lodge run smooth -whatever is needed, and always with a smile and a positive attitude. John was recognized for his efforts at the annual Arizona/New
Mexico Moose Association Conference on August 29 and was presented with a
certificate from Moose International as
Glendale’s Moose of the Year 2014.

The Halloween Dance was
another great success at the lodge
on October 25. After a delicious
spaghetti dinner and dessert, the
crowd danced the night away to the
music of The Breeze. Adding to
the fun—the familiar Chicken
Dance, Cupid Shuffle and the
Hokey Pokey!

Join us for BAR BINGO on Monday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. for a
lot of fun!
Message from the Governor
As we start our third quarter of the year we are trying to improve the lodge for the good and for you
the members. If you didn't know it yet, we have started Bar Bingo on Mondays at 2:00 pm. We also
have the Queen of Hearts drawing on Sunday nights at 7:00 pm. Tickets for the New Year’s Eve
bash are now on sale (November 1).
If you have any ideas to help improve the lodge, please let us know and the board will discuss them.
I know I keep asking for volunteers but the lodge can use all the help we can get in making the Lodge
run better. Please step up and volunteer. Please come and support your Lodge.
Lastly, I would like to remind you to renew your dues when they come due.
Thanks for your support.

Message from your Senior Regent
WOTM…
They say time flies when you are having fun and it’s true. No one knows that better than the Women of the Moose. We are
having an excellent year with activities - some new events and some of the regular events you’ve come to expect, as we get
“Back to the Basics”.
Come and join us at our regular meetings on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. (In November, our first
meeting will be on Sunday, November 2 for the College of Regents Open Activity meeting.) All the activities planned are
documented in this newsletter and on our website – at Glendalemoose2243.org.
The WOTM hosts a meat draw on the first Sunday (subject to change) each month at 4:00 p.m. . Please check our calendar
for details on all the events and activities sponsored by the Lodge.
Just a reminder that it is important for all Moose members to be active in our lodge. Attend our meetings. If you’ve never
become active in the organization and would like to do so, the meetings are a great place to start. It’s also a place to meet
people. Make new friends. If meetings aren’t your thing, you can still volunteer to help. Remember : “ Nobody can do
everything, but everyone can do something.”
Fraternally yours,
Ginger Wofford
