This year, the Chamber has made some drastic changes to the Annual Awards Ceremony. The event will now be held at Kennebec
Valley Community College’s gymnasium in Fairfield. Presentations and speeches will be shortened to end the night earlier and allow
more time to socialize and congratulate the award winners. There will
not be a sit-down dinner this year. Instead, we will have several Chamber member caterers provide an elegant array of both hot and cold

MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
From our Director-at-Large’s Chair:
Time is a precious commodity for us all, and I’ve noticed that there is always one more great cause, event
or project that I want to get involved in – same for you?
I’m glad I make time for Chamber activities because it
makes me feel connected, and gives me the satisfaction of giving
back while helping to strengthen our business community. Plus, it
has allowed me to get to know some really smart, fun people in this
region. Those relationships and networking opportunities are
strengthening me as an individual and as a professional. I’m also
fortunate that my employer, Inland Hospital, encourages staff to be
involved in our community. I’ll bet your company does the same
thing – or would if you asked!
There is room for you or your employees on one of the six committees with the Mid Maine Chamber of Commerce. They include:
Community Events, Business Expansion and Retention, Marketing,
Public Policy, and Membership Services.
Great networking, professional development, and contributing to
the success of our business community – that makes it a hat-trick
(just in time for the hockey playoffs-Go Bruins!)

20th Anniversary Event! A Concert of Ideas!
By Tammy Rabideau & Nate Rudy
The 20th anniversary PechaKucha Night Waterville (PK WTVL), scheduled for Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Hathaway Creative Center, is
Waterville’s connection to a global storytelling network of creative
people sharing their creative muse in 20x20 (20 images showing for
20 seconds each). Over 20 events in six years, PK WTVL has brought
thousands of area residents together in celebration of passions and
creativity. Community members are warmly invited to the free 20th
anniversary event scheduled to take place at the Hathaway Creative
Center, 10 Water Street, Waterville. The doors will open at 6:00PM
with a reception including food, libations, and music. PK presentations will begin at 7:20PM. The event is free and open to the public.
The PK WTVL V20 presenters are Emily
Rowden Fournier, John Holt Willey, Kathy
McKay, Margaret Aiken, Margy Burns
Knight, Molly Jean Bennett, Pat Clark, and
Tim Christensen. The event will feature a
wide variety of stories about lumberjack
sports, world travels, Shakespeare, life as
a working artist, generational influences,
poetry of wood, community connections,
and more. Waterville Mayor Nick Isgro will
emcee, the band Mes Amis will play, and
The Last Unicorn will provide scrumptious
refreshments. PechaKucha Night Waterville volume 20 will be a fantastic night of
merriment, community, storytelling, creativity, and celebration. All are invited to this free event!
PechaKucha Night started with Klein Dytham Architecture in Tokyo in
2003 and has turned into an international phenomenon with events
happening in over 900 cities around the world. The 20x20 format
makes presentations concise, keeps the evening moving at a rapid
pace, and allows for plenty of chit-chat among participants and attendees.
PK WTVL is presented by a volunteer Team PK, Waterville Creates!,
and the Waterville Public Library. Central Maine Motors, Inland Hospital, and the Hathaway Creative Center are volume 20 event sponsors.

The history of dental practice dates back to
1976 when Dr. Peter Laliberte opened a
practice initially at 141 Silver Street. He started small with just himself and one employee.
As the patient-base continued to expand he
relocated in 1984 down the street to a larger
space at 98 Silver Street, where the office
remains today. Since that time the building
has undergone many changes, from expansions and renovations to the addition of two
dental partners, Dr. Jay Wietecha in 2001
and Dr. Peter Vayanos in 2010. This group
added another location in Winthrop in 2007.
Today, the practice employs 18 staff members between the two offices.
