Walter Maschinenbau GmbH
WALTER has produced tool grinding machines since 1953. With the introduction to the market of the HELITRONIC series for the complete machining of rotationally symmetrical tools, WALTER became the leader of the world market.
Today, our product range is supplemented by fully automated CNC measuring
machines in the HELICHECK series for contactless complete measurement of
tools and production parts.
Walter Maschinenbau GmbH is part of the UNITED GRINDING Group within
Körber AG which has significant financial strength and well tested processes.
Together with our sister company, Ewag AG, we consider ourselves to be a
supplier of systems and solutions for the complete machining of tools and
can offer a wide range of products, including grinding, rotary eroding, laser
machining, measurement and software.
Our customer focus and our global sales and service network of companyowned locations and employees has been appreciated by our customers for
decades.
The upgrade of the HELITRONIC TOOL STUDIO
grinding software, which is highly regarded worldwide, is the future of intelligent tool
machining. You can also profit from the innovative features and extensions. For example,
from more efficiency by administrative network

to HELICHECK machines. Measurement features are Diameter, Rake
Angle, Helix Angle, Clearance Angle
& Width, Runout, Flute Depth and
Backtaper.
Automatic machine referencing
– Using additional hardware; FANUC (Andron on request)
Benefits:
• Time saving due to automatic
(Probe mounted in A-Axis)
generation of measuring program
(QCM)
Benefits:
• Measuring results independent
• No double data input minimizes
of operator
input errors
• Reliable process
HSK Loader Support
Loader – ”Clipboard“
Available for “1 Gripper solution”
Adding tools from HELITRONIC TOOL (HELITRONIC POWER and
STUDIO to active loader batch by one HELITRONIC POWER DIAMOND)
click.
Benefits:
• Time saving due to easy handling
• ”Batch“ can be saved completely
9
Performance Enhancements
– Multi core support on recent PC´s
and latest FANUC panel (Dual
Core)
– Optimization of calculation times
(individual teeth, variable helix,
tapered)
Benefits:
• Higher productivity due to faster
calculations
Display Grinding Layers
– Several grinding infeeds
are shown in cross section as
different layers
– Goal is to visualize material
removal per infeed
– Wheel sections per infeed can
be visualized
Benefits:
• Visualize effect of different
Infeed Strategies
• Optimize Infeed Strategy
2 Multiple Cross Sections
Define multiple cross sections using
individual positions along tool centre
line.
Benefits:
• No need to change one cross
section over and over again.
• Free selection of cross sections
and their positions
• Time Saving
History of Spindle Torque
and Grinding Time
Automatic logging of spindle torque
and grinding time per operation over
several runs.
Benefits:
• Better control over the grinding
process
• By watching torque over several
runs you get an idea when wheel
is worn out and needs to be
redressed
• More efficient grinding

1 Show Linked
Tool IDNs in Wheels
Show all Tool IDN´s connected to a
certain ”Wheel Pack IDN“ on a mouse
click. Can be used in HELITRONIC
TOOL STUDIO and IDN-Commander.
Benefits:
• Better overview of wheel
packs in use
Attach PDF Drawings to IDN
One or more PDF documents can be
linked to the IDN. Integrated PDF
viewer allows display inside of HELITRONIC TOOL STUDIO. Drawings and
documents are stored together with
the IDN.
2 Attach Fluting Operation
Benefits:
• Important Information‘s from
drawing are available to the
operator right where it is needed
• Replacement for paper printoute
• Grinding of pre-fluted blanks ac-
to Profile Probingg
Fluting operation can be attached to
result of profile probing.
Benefits:
• Allows basic regrinding of flutes
with unknown helix angles
cording to measured helix angle
Additional Radius
Gash Operation
Add a second radius gash operation
to drills with standard-point and
facet-point. Available in operation
wizard.
Benefits:
• Different gash-operations
possible
• Higher flexibility
New Drill Wizard
– Reapply wizard for drills
– OD operations (k-land, heelchamfer, facets, cylindrical margin)
available in Wizard
– Endform (e.g. chamfer)
available in wizard
– No support for step-drills
Benefits:
• Added value for customer
• No need for steptool-option
