CVCC Family and Friends,
I really enjoy Spring semester as it always ends on such a high note. We had a wonderful
graduation ceremony receiving front page coverage from the Ledger- Enquirer. Our
baseball and softball teams had successful seasons. Coach Steve O’Steen reached 300
wins with the softball team. We’re especially excited with the success of our 3x ACCC
Champions. I am with the team in Colorado now as they compete at the World Series.
Our baseball team is doing us proud both on and off the field. The team has received
nothing but praise for their character in addition to their talents. Currently, they have
won two and lost one game and will be playing again Thursday night. This past week,
Coach Thomas broke B.R. Johnson’s record for the most wins at CVCC. Help me cheer
for them as they press on. GO PIRATES!
In addition to the student accomplishments, the Workforce Development division
recently held a meeting with local business and industry to establish and grow new
partnerships. This past Friday we provided training for Johns Manville and received
positive reviews. We look forward to doing more of this type training with our community.
The Public Safety program continues to provide excellent training with 20 students
passing national certifications. We will be accepting a new class of nursing students
this week as well. Meeting the needs of the community is what we do.
Thanks to everyone for a great spring!
Sincerely,
Mark Ellard

CVCC Foundation awards $9,600 for summer
The Chattahoochee Valley Community College Foundation awarded $9,600 in summer semester scholarships.
Featured in the photo are (front row) Chuck Floyd, CVCC Foundation Scholarship Committee Member; Bionca
King; Keeli Hinesley; Jamie Jones; Tina Jones and Mark Ellard, CVCC Interim President (back row) Damon
Ingram, Katrina Perry, Mosi Wells and Natalie LaNear. Not present but receiving scholarships are Jessicah
Brooker and Brianna Vogel. CVCC Foundation members not present from the Scholarship Committee are Tim
Becraft, Cher Pitts and Jill Tigner. Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA to receive assistance from the CVCC
Foundation.
For more information about the CVCC Foundation and scholarship opportunities, contact Karen Kelly
334.291.4938 or [email protected].
Meet Mosi Wells, just one of the several students who benefit from
contributions to the CVCC Foundation. Mosi chose to attend CVCC
because it is close to home, and he wanted to be part of the new welding
program this past spring semester.
He said, “Monies that I would usually pay bills with, the scholarship
will allow me to purchase tools, books, and other materials vital to my
development as an ARC Welder. “
That’s the CVCC Foundation scholarship in action. It’s helping Mosi
accomplish his goals. He plans to become a master welder, and eventually
learn inspection and OSHA.
Mosi Wells,
Applied Technology
Student
A grateful recipient, Mosi thanks God, the interim president and the
CVCC Foundation for the opportunity.
Mosi ended with stating, “CVCC is a great school! They prepare their
students for their future!”

I really would recommend CVCC to anyone. The hospitality is
amazing. Coming from a big university, I was able to fit right
in and bond relationships with good staff that guided me to this
moment I’m at right now. I would also like to thank the MTC for
doing an amazing job. They are really good at what they do over
there. - student on 2016 CVCC Graduation Survey
