Customer needs
Glass with only a bullet-resistance feature does not
provide a complete solution for the customer. Different
features like heating systems, EMI protection and easy
installation should be also addressed in solutions for
transparencies.
Saint-Gobain Sully’s Solution
Glass in frame from Saint-Gobain Sully provides
efficient installation possibility, fast mounting and
complete system for EMI protection and heating.
Three different solutions for frames
In order to fit bullet-resistant glass into the body of the
vehicle, the window is bolted onto the structure of the
car and the glass can be fitted into the window using
one of three different types of technology:
- Glass with customised moulded seal;
- Glass with adjustable seal;
- Glass glued into the frame.

Adjustable seal
According to the customer’s needs, the frame can be
made from normal steel, armoured steel or aluminium.
A moulded seal consists of silicon directly injected
around the glass and customised through a special
mould specially designed for the window.

An adjustable seal consists of silicon rubber wrapped
around the glass.
Glue can be structural and non-structural depending on
the framing solution chosen by the customer.

Application

repair (MTTR).

pre-assembly solution for a complete window is

• In the case of the moulded seal and the adjustable
seal, the frame can be re-used. Both solutions follow
the concept of eco-design and decrease the life-cycle
cost of the vehicle.
• Testing is done in Saint-Gobain Sully’s in-house
facilities ensuring the best levels of protection and
reliability.
