Marketplace Overview
■ The four year pricing free fall is starting to hint at possibly slowing, but is not expected to reverse significantly
in the near term. Overall, buyers continue to have the advantage.
■ Transactions increased during the past year, especially in the United States, but the inflow of additional aircraft for sale, particularly from Europe, continues to hold prices down.
■ Most activity is occurring in model years since 1998, which has been the scenario for some time now. Older aircraft that have pricing expectations not aligned with the current marketplace realities tend to remain unsold for extended periods of time.
■ Declining sale prices on several aircraft are stimulating activity and increasing transactions. Other models, however, are at or near record-high inventory levels.
Beech King Air C90B Market Summary
I
nventory increased by as much as 12 units
during the past year before finally ending
down six from the peak of 47 in July. Starting
with 35 aircraft for sale in January, 2012
finished with six more available in December
(-17%). The United States increased by four in
available units growing from 17 to 21 (+24%).
Inventory across the remainder of the globe
only increased two from 18 to 20 (+11%).
Average asking prices reacted typically as
more aircraft came onto the market during the
summer. However, the first four months and
the last four months saw values decline even
though fewer units were available to purchase.
Beginning at $1,445,455, the amounts asked
for this model produced a small increase by
year end of $1,480,077 (+0.3%).

uring 2012, units for sale ranged from
six to nine for an average of seven.

inventory the last two months of the year. From
$2,477,462, prices ended in December down
$328,712 at $2,148,750 (-13.3%).

Beech King Air C90GTx Market Summary
T
he number of aircraft coming onto and
going off of the market never varied more
than one on a monthly basis. For the full 2012
year, units available for sale rose by one from
three to four (+33%). That increase occurred in
U.S.-based aircraft, which rose from two to
three (+50%), while units for sale that were
located outside of the United States remained
static at one (0%).
The inventory’s value behaved uniquely, to
say the least. Average asking prices remained
fairly static as inventory for the most part was
unchanged. But then pricing began moving
upward well into the fall, despite a slight
increase in aircraft for sale. From January of
last year through the end of December, average
asking prices rose $411,667 from $2,950,000 to
$3,361,667 (+14%).

to highest (91) across the previous year.
Beginning at 81 in January, 2012 ended with
85 aircraft for sale (+5%). Those aircraft in the
United States rose nine from 42 to 51 (+21%)
while units located elsewhere around the globe
dropped five from 39 to 34 (-13%).
A gain of $157,312 for the past 12 months
occurred even with inventory increasing for
most of the year. The period began with an
average asking price of $1,927,707 and ended
up at $2,085,019 (+8.2%).

static for two and three month periods
during 2012. Beginning at eight units, the
year ended down two at six (-25%). In the
United States, inventory dropped one from
five to four (-20%). The aircraft outside the
U.S. dropped from three to two (-33%) for a

Prices then remained fairly constant even as
the number of available aircraft decreased.
Conventional economics prevailed in the last
third of the year when prices dropped as more
aircraft became available. Average asking
prices began at $4,289,167 and increased by
$107,083 to $4,396,250 (+2.5%).

ompared to the overall business aircraft
fleet, this model continued to have a low
percentage available to purchase at only 4.4
percent. Total number on the market during
2012 ranged from 38 in January to 29 at year
end for a net decrease of nine (-24%). Aircraft
located in the United States started and ended
the year at 21 units for sale (0%) while the
remainder of the world’s fleet declined five
from 17 to 12 (-29%).
Average asking prices did not directly reflect
inventory levels. During six separate months,
the market values went down as available units
either did the same or remained unchanged.
For four other months, prices increased as
aircraft for sale did the same. Only two months
saw units available decline and average asking
prices increase.
