Case study
Integreon
Global collaboration carries
business and CSR benefits
As chief information officer for legal
outsourcer, Integreon, Thomas Jaycox
understands the value of the knowledge
and experience of its 2,200 associates.
Helping them collaborate, wherever in
the world they worked, would unlock
that value for everyone.
BT was chosen to provide a cloud-based
Microsoft Lync solution, complemented
with audio bridging, for the company’s
power-user community. Giving Integreon
the perfect way of raising productivity and
improving sustainability, that collaboration
platform now also forms part of
the company’s CSR programme.
For us, collaboration is a no-brainer. It’s a must to help respond
effectively to our customers, improve productivity, reduce
business travel and extend our reach.”

BT One Cloud Lync provides the perfect platform to enhance
worldwide communication at Integreon
Helping global staff work as
a single team
Cloud-based solution
for power users
When you’ve got a worldwide workforce,
the superglue that sticks things together
is collaboration. Just ask Thomas Jaycox.
As CIO of Integreon, a global provider of
outsourcing services for the legal profession,
he says: “I used Microsoft OCS in the
early days, so I already knew how such
technologies could benefit our business.”
In the end not only did Integreon adopt BT
One Collaborate audio bridging, it also chose
BT One Cloud Lync. The latter offers instant
messaging, presence, enterprise voice, web
conferencing and multi-party HD video
conferencing – all launched with a single
click from any Microsoft Office application.
The company employs over 2,200 associates
around the globe, supporting more than 250
law firms and multinationals. “I sat down with
our CEO to explain collaboration concepts and
possibilities,” Thomas continues. “He quickly
got right on board and told me to get it done.”
Starting with a Microsoft Lync implementation
to support its US operations, a global rollout
ensued on a Microsoft Office 365 platform
with integrated audio conferencing. “Our initial
audio conferencing service provider turned out
to be a bit of a disaster, so we asked Microsoft
for advice,” Thomas recalls. “BT was right up
there on its list of premier global partners.”
Hosted in a BT data centre, the BT One Cloud
Lync service currently serves the needs
of the Integreon power-user community.
Right now the BT solution is working in
a hybrid configuration with the in-house
Microsoft Office 365 platform, the Lync
functionality of which has been retained for
the present to serve less demanding users.
Deployment of BT One Cloud Lync and
BT One Collaborate audio bridging was
achieved in half the standard 60-day
lead time. “What impressed me most
was that BT was able to engage the right
people to talk through any issues and get
things resolved quickly,” says Thomas.
Demolishing barriers of
distance and time
The BT solution has enabled Integreon to
break down organisational siloes. With
Microsoft Lync it’s now far easier for people in
remote locations to work seamlessly together;
the audio-visual capabilities substantially
improve person-to-person interaction.
Meanwhile, the BT audio bridging service has
improved the quality and reliability of voice
communications and slashed toll charges.

“Our people have embraced Lync and become
adept users in a very short time,” adds Thomas.
“To use an analogy, if you take someone out of
a Ford and put them in a Ferrari, pretty soon
they don’t want to go back to the Ford.”
People are more accessible and barriers of
distance and time are being more easily
overcome. Even some board meetings
are now being conducted using Lync,
reducing demands on executives’ time.
That much reduced need for business travel
is both saving money, speeding decisionmaking, and improving sustainability.
With in-house usage of the Lync platform
in the company’s bloodstream, the next
step is to integrate it with Skype to enable
federation with customers and suppliers
and improve collaboration still further.
Innovative investment in
education in India
Integreon also uses Lync in its CSR
programme. “We encourage our associates to
give back to the communities we operate in,”
says Bob Gogel, the Integreon CEO. “One of
our people in Mumbai knew a school for the
hearing impaired that needed support with
vocational training, so we decided to see what
we could do to help.”
Integreon created a programme for the
school called Edu-Lync. Sessions at the
Rotary Sanskardham Academy use the BT
cloud-based Lync platform to enable remote
communication and teaching using lipreading and signing over video.
“I was amazed how seamlessly the Lync training
sessions went,” says Kunalm Purohit, country
head for India at Integreon. “So much was
being said when nothing was being said.” For
those students, pushing the boundaries of
what Lync can do has opened up a whole new
world of possibilities.
