IN BRIEF
Acano expands communication possibilities for
Lync users. They can meet with anyone on
a standards-based video system or client using
SIP or H.323. Or with anyone connected using
a browser and WebRTC. Lync users maintain
a Lync user experience while SIP/H.323 users
maintain their user experience.
VIDEO
Lync 2010/2013 support using native RTVideo
and Lync H.264UC. Lync clients send and
receive video using the most optimal media
format at up to 1080p quality.
CONTENT SHARING
Native presentation media support. Lync users
have application and desktop sharing as if they
were communicating directly with another Lync
client. Share at full rate and resolution, and
share the content simultaneously with both
standard SIP/H.323 video systems and Acano
client devices.
PRESENCE
coSpace presence. Set up commonly used
coSpaces as shortcuts in a Lync client. Monitor
favorite coSpaces and see when others have
joined.

Persistent chat walls. coSpace message boards
integrate with Lync IM sessions. Lync users
become fully interactive participants in Acano
coSpaces, with capabilities over and above
those available to users of standard video
systems. For example, messages are persistent
within the coSpace and always available to
coSpace members.
LYNC INVITATIONS
Use standard Lync invitations to include nonLync (SIP/H.323/WebRTC) participants in to
a Lync meeting. Supports IVR or direct-dial.
DRAG & DROP FROM LYNC
Seamlessly escalate calls using the Lync buddy
list. Once SIP/H.323 video systems have been
added to the buddy list, simply drag and drop
new participants into the conversation.
DIRECT FEDERATION
The Acano platform can be deployed using
Lync’s federation capabilities. This provides
seamless access to Lync clients outside your
local network without the need for a local Lync
front end server.
ENCRYPTION SUPPORT
If the Lync setup is configured to require
encryption, the user experience will be the
same. This is particularly important for external
Lync clients.
How it’s deployed
The Acano Platform uses standard Lync Edge server protocols for external access. It can be
deployed either virtually or as an optimized Acano server. Lync users outside of an organization’s
private network can join coSpaces as easily as if they were at their own desks.
The Acano Platform is also able to bridge
point-to-point calls between Lync clients and
any other devices including SIP video systems
and Acano client devices (PCs, iPads and
smartphones).
For example, a Lync user can dial a second user
within the Lync domain. The second user’s
Acano client will ring, whether on a mobile
device such as an iPad or iPhone, or logged in
via their desktop PC.
