palms, lush date palms, and graceful leaf palms that line the main
thoroughfare. Chowchilla’s 19,051 residents enjoy an attractive, smalltown quality of life within the City’s 7.1 square miles.
Chowchilla’s main industry is agriculture, with the Valley providing fertile
land for farming. Rich pastures and fields of corn and cotton are adjoined
by orchards and vineyards of almonds, pistachios, pecans, apples, oranges,
nectarines, peaches, plums, and grapes, along with new and expanded
dairy operations. In recent years, manufacturers have located in Chowchilla
and enlarged the range of industries in the City; because of its central location
to railroads and major highways, new diverse businesses have found
