Agrostis stolonifera Characteristics An excellent and
Agrostis stolonifera
Creeping bentgrass forms stolons which
gives the specie an aggressive growth. It
has a high susceptibility to turf
diseases and it is in need of an intensive
maintenance program to keep the turf
quality on an acceptable level. Shark
An excellent and greenkeeper friendly
performance!
• Dense uniform surface.
• Excellent drought and heat performance.
• Aggressive establishment.
• Improved disease tolerance.
• Top variety against Poa annua invasions.
Shark (=Tigershark) is a next generation creeping bent variety with an aggressive growth habit and tight
density.
Why Shark?
•Dense uniform surface.
•Excellent drought and heat performance.
•Aggressive establishment.
•Improved disease tolerance.
•Top variety against Poa annua invasions.
Origin
Shark is bred by Mountain View Seeds (Oregon, USA).
Colour
Medium dark green turf type.
Characteristics of the cultivar
In NTEP putting green trials, Shark demonstrates perforamcne that exceeds existing standard varieties. It
ranks in the top quality grouping for both soil and sand greens, even under a close mowing regime of
less than 3 mm and under reduced fungicides application.
Performance on Greens
Shark delivers consistent results on any green composition even under mowing levels under 3.0 mm and
reduced fungicides. Shark is rated no. 1 in summer density. It persists through summers’heat, humidity
and disease stress. Shark provides anexcellent playing surface and is also able to suppress Poa annua
due to an aggressive growth behaviour.
Sowing and maintenance
Seeding rates:
Shark is recommended to be used in pure stands and creeping bentgrass blends. For new courses
Shark should be seeded at 5 - 7 gr/m2. For overseeding a sowing rate of 2 - 5 gr/m2 should be
applied.

Characteristics
Mowing height
Shark requires frequent mowing and should be mowed at a low height. Recommended mowing heights
are:
Greens 2.5 - 6 mm
Tees 6 - 10 mm
Fairways 10 - 12 mm
Watering
After seeding and establishing Shark prefers deep
watering early in the morning.
