Brought to you by:
February 2015
March 2015
I have been producing The Topeka
Newsletter for 9 years!! It is a FREE way to promote your locally owned
April 2015
business!! Recently the cost of everything has gone up and with my new jobs, I had to rethink if I had the time
May 2015
to donate to keep the newsletter
going. I was totally taken by surprise by the reaction of some of my friends
when I thought about quiting. Coming soon, the newsletter will actually be underwritten by businesses and
June
2015
another one of my friends will be desgining me a REAL professional website!! These friends believe that The
Topeka Newsletter is an important
part of our community and they want to see it continue. I want to make sure
July 2015
that I keep it FREE to all locally owned businesses! I don't have time to organize structured advertising prices but
will accept any donations. (See
support
August
2015 tab above) I am excited about the partnerships and can't wait to
announce who they are!! Thank you for supporting the newsletter and helping spread the word!! Make sure to
share this site as much asSeptember
possible!! 2015
Support local as much as much as you can, it not only feels good but it helps
our community and friends!!

Hanger Party: This was my second year to attend this awesome party! My friend Brooks and his partner own a flight management company. This year they
MarchThey
2016changed the company name to Vaerus Aviation! My friend Robin attended the party with me and we had a blast!!
released a new branding campagne.
Company Christmas Party for Vendors and Customers: In 2014, I started a new job! I accepted the position as Accountant for my friend's company,
Kansas Trucking. It is a growing business that deals with dump trucks and hauling materials all over Kansas and Missouri. I know accounting but trucking is an
entirely new field that I had NO CLUE about. I am slowly but surely learning about trucking. For the holiday season, we invited our vendors and customers to
join us for lunch. Sunflower Paving and Kansas Trucking are seperate companies but are housed in the same building so the party included both companies.

BINGO NIGHT with high school friends: This had to be one of the best nights yet. I had been wanting to go play BINGO for quite some time. When Teri
invited me to go, I said YES immediately! She invited our friend Susan and I invited our friend Kellie. I had not really gone out with either of these amazing
ladies since high school! We had a blast and I am pretty sure some of the BINGO regulars wanted to kick us out!
Chief's Game #3 I had not planned on attending this game. I had given the tickets to my friend Ryan. I actually thought it would be too cold for me. He was
unable to go and the weather was amazing. I had promised my friend Erin that if I was able to get more tickets, I would take her. She was excited when she
got the invite. She hadn't been in 11 years and she has to be one of the biggest "girl" sports nut I know. I stayed in KC the night before so we got an early
start and actually tailgated this time. She had friends that were there so we hung out with them!! Not to brag but I went to 3 games and they won all 3!!
Kansas City Christmas Party: What a fun night! I love having friends all over the place. This night was spent with some of my KC friends celebrating the
holidays! The Marengos put out a really nice spread of food and we took it from there. Tony bought a new party machine so that helped out later on!!
Topeka Civic Theatre: This month we went to see A Miracle on 34th Street! It was a great show for the holiday season!! I was sad to miss other holiday
shows but my schedule just wouldn't allow it this year!!
Schultz Christmas: I will be honest with you. Christmas just isn't the same without my grandparents and my dad! I also miss buying tons of toys!! I miss
the big gathering of aunts, uncles and cousins! This year I was able to actually buy gifts for all those people who helped me with my 2014 life style change so
that was cool!! It has been along time since I had the money to buy presents for anyone outside my immediate family! This year, I wanted to express my
gratitude to all those amazing people who where there for me. That did help make the season better!! Our small family gathered and had a great meal,
brought to you by the color yellow. Then we sat around and opened gifts and made fun of each other. Just another normal Christmas with a Schultz!
Chelsea enjoyed shopping for me this year!! I loved my new
license plate!!

First Friday Art Walk
A sexy fantastic farce by Marc Camoletti and Robin Hawdon
Produced through special arrangement with Samuel French Play Service
3113 SW Huntoon
Tue - Fri: 10:00 am - 5:30 pm
Sat: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Bernard is planning a romantic weekend with his chic Parisian mistress
in his charming converted French farmhouse, whilst his wife,
Jacqueline, is away. He has arranged for a cordon bleu cook to prepare
gourmet delights, and has invited his best friend, Robert, along too to
provide the alibi. It’s foolproof; what could possibly go wrong? Well....
suppose Robert turns up not realizing quite why he has been invited.
Suppose Robert and Jacqueline are secret lovers, and consequently
determined that Jacqueline will NOT leave for the weekend. Suppose
the cook has to pretend to be the mistress and the mistress is unable
to cook. Suppose everyone’s alibi gets confused with everyone else’s.
An evening of hilarious confusion ensues as Bernard and Robert
improvise at breakneck speed.

Babette. But that very evening, a certain prince Leonard-the-LooneyHearted comes riding by on his hobby horse and whisks her away to
Looney-land. Raggedy Ann knows what she must do! She and Andy
climb out the window into the “deep, deep woods” to fetch Babette
and bring her back home.

with Special Guest - Larry Stewart - The Voice of Restless Heart
January 24, 2015 at 7:30 PM
Long before “American Idol” and “The Voice,” there was “Star Search.” Sawyer
Brown won for vocal group when the program debuted in 1983.
That win set off a whirlwind of success with a slew of hits: “Step That Step,”
“Used to Blue,” “This Missin’ You Heart of Mine,” “The Race Is On,” “The Dirt
Road,” “Some Girls Do,” “All These Years,” “Thank God For You,” “This Time,”
“Treat Her Right,” “Drive Me Wild.”
Along with a ton of hits – Sawyer Brown became known for their high energy,
spontaneous show! Mark Miller dances, Hobie Hubbard cracks jokes…the entire
group lays down some of the best live music you’ll ever hear. Sawyer Brown can
get you out of your seats and rockin’ in the aisles…and the same time, they
can put a lump in your throat with their emotional ballads. A Sawyer Brown
show is an event!!

Glamorous, sexy and deliciously wicked, Jekyll & Hyde is the enthralling musical
based on Robert Louis Stevenson classic story about a brilliant but obsessive
scientist whose alter ego wreaks havoc across Victorian London. An evocative
tale of two men – one a doctor, passionate and romantic – the other, a
terrifying madman; and two women - one, beautiful and trusting –the other,
beautiful and trusting only herself. Both in love with the same man and both
unaware of his dark secret.
Featuring a thrilling pop rock score including the unforgettable hit, “This Is The
Moment” from multi Grammy and Tony nominated Frank Wildhorn & double
Oscar and Grammy winning Leslie Bricusse, Jekyll& Hyde has mesmerized
audiences the world over.

years!
Set in a department store, four women with seemingly nothing in common
but a blacklace bra on sale, come to find they have more to share than ever
imagined. Theall-female cast makes fun of their woeful hot flashes,
forgetfulness, mood swings, wrinkles, night sweats and chocolate binges. A
sisterhood is created between these diverse women as they realize that
menopause is no longer The Silent Passage, but a stage in every woman’s life
that is perfectly normal!
“Most women know intuitively that every other woman is experiencing hot
flashes or night sweats,” says author Jeanie C. Linders. “There is always a
close friend or two who can sympathize or identify, but when they are sitting
in a theatre withhundreds of other women, all laughing and shouting ‘That’s
me! That’s me on stage!' They know what they are experiencing is normal.
They aren’t alone or crazy. It becomes a sisterhood.”

Tickets $55.00, $39.50, $29.50
There are few American classics these days, but Don Williams is certainly one
of them. With a warm hickory baritone that balances strength with a gentle
concern, he draws his listener into the intimate world of an old friend,
someone who cares deeply about you and the quality of your life … and who
will always offer a hand when you need it.

The Sabatini Art Gallery is located a short distance from the library
entrance, just to the right of the rotunda. Exhibits, programs and

Gallery hours are the same as hours for the Topeka & Shawnee County
Public Library: Mon–Fri., 9am to 9pm, Sat 9am to 6pm and Sun 12pm to
9pm. The library’s Digital Branch is open 24/7 at tscpl.org.
Reflections, released by Sugar Hill on March 11, yields Williams at his finest,
with his classic, often-copied-but-never-duplicated baritone front and center.
It’s this style that has made Don a ballad vocal model for performers ranging
from Eric Clapton (with whom he’d traded songs- “Tulsa Time,” “Lay Down
Sally”) to Keith Urban (who guested on 2012’s And So It Goes). With a healthy
touring schedule and his second album in two years, Williams works hard to
maintain that voice beloved by so many.
“I don’t think there’s anything we have to do daily in our walk that’s more
important than how we deal with each other,” Williams confesses. “To me, it’s
everything. So when you’re looking for songs, if they can express that, then
you’ve found something special.” Without a doubtWilliams, whose hits with
the likes of "Good Ole Boys Like Me," "I Believe In You," "Love Is On A Roll,"
"Amanda" and "Tulsa Time," have always had a knack for finding songs that
speak directly to people’s hearts.
On February 23, 2010, the Country Music Association announced that Don
Williams was to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Don
Williams has called this “the biggest honor of my life.”
