Transforming TGIF
TGIF is now Tasty Tuesday
This popular pot-luck event is moving to the second Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m.
This event will be similar to what we had on the second Friday of the month
(TGIF) but it will now be on the second Tuesday. The Pub kitchen is not
open for dinner on Tuesdays, therefore it is the perfect night for a “potluck”
event. In the future, we will divide up and switch around the alphabet for
bringing an APPETIZER, ENTREE’, SIDE DISH, or DESSERT. But for
this first event, we ask that you bring any dish you’d like to share.
NO RSVP is needed. We hope you can make it.
June 9th 6:00 p.m. Cordell Room

May will most likely be a record month financially on several
levels. We knew this was part of our pathway forward and
you will probably see some new faces in the staff over the next
month as we adapt to meet our new labor demands. Aly and
James are doing an excellent job and I look forward to seeing
this play out over the summer.
$12.50 per person
Please RSVP directly to Aly Leard at 891-8047
(not to the Pub extension)
**winner this month will choose menu for July!!
We sent out a survey last month and I pulled the results this
morning. There will be more details on this to come, but the
survey results spoke very highly of the way things are running
compared to a year ago, and also provided some insight for Aly,
James and Dave in regards to our food preferences. Please feel
free to let me or the staff know of any suggestions you may
have.

President’s Message – June 2015
The “official” arrival of summer is just a few weeks away but clearly for most of us High Vista Folks, it is already
here! The pool is a cool 76 degrees and should be even warmer n the next few weeks. The Swim Club Management group has done a wonderful job of getting everything ready and our Facilities Chair, Janet LeCount, and Pool
Chair, Vickie Glass, have work hard to make it look appealing as well. If you haven’t visited the pool recently, I
think you’ll be presently surprised.
The Robinson Pub is “hopping” as well! The staff continues to provide excellent food and service to an ever increasing number of members and golfers. Aly and her staff are working more hours than we expect and they all
deserve our support and patience when things get really busy. Aly plans to hire additional part-time employees to
help with the increase in business.
One issue that the Board will take up at our June 16th meeting will be a behavior policy for the Association. The
vast majority of our members expect their Pub “experience” to be enjoyable each and every time. It is unfortunate
that a few members can make the experience very unenjoyable with loud, and often, offensive language. I have
done some research and found most Country and Golf Clubs have such a policy. If you are interested in giving
your thoughts on this, or any other Association matter, please come to the Board meeting and have your voice
heard.

T
he latest edition of Club and Resort Business has arrived. Odd as it may sound, I look forward to it.
When I get to the salon for a pedicure, there I am reading CRB, while other ladies flip through old
issues of Glamour and People. Most trade publications, with catalogs and circulars, hit the round
bin upon arrival, so what’s the big deal—right?
Well, for one, it’s easy to slip into a rather myopic view of our club ’s performance. The usual yardstick is
how we’re performing compared to last year, or in relation to budget projections. How many Summer Fun
Passes have we sold, how many more weddings have we booked, and how
frequently are members dining at the Pub —comparatively speaking? All
valid questions, to be sure, but we don ’t want to limit our view of what is
possible to what has been attainable in the past. Over the past six months
we’ve had to concentrate on the essential elements of our operation, like
improving our food quality and providing more timely financial reports.
We’re headed in the right direction, many thanks to the Board and
volunteers willing to invest the time. As we recognize the dividends from
this phase of our development, the question is, what ’s next?
That brings me back to the latest issue of the magazine. What ’s working
well for other clubs? Even the most venerable clubs are depending less on
swanky locker rooms and posh dining areas to drive numbers, gaining
ground instead through reimagined menu offerings, events and services

that intrigue and engage their members. One club has started a “Sip and
Swing” outing, with beverages and food samples staged at various points along the golf course. Another
has taken their children’s sports camp to a whole new level, with different themes for each of seven weeks
this summer. Barbeque is in vogue, they say, as are cooking classes taught by club chefs, and organic,
gluten-free and vegan options are making their way onto menus across the country. Several clubs have
seen remarkable returns by building out or remodeling their outdoor spaces —patios, pavilions, and the
like.
Healthy clubs have a gift for adapting in sometimes unconventional fashion, to changing market conditions,
demographics and member preferences. Seeing what other clubs are doing is a source of inspiration for
me. What’s next for High Vista? Let’s bring more activities from concept to calendar, and work together
to bring more families to the Amenity Association.

4th of July Celebration
In July we’re starting a page called “Winning Shots.”
We'll feature photos of the people, scenery, and events
of High Vista. Encourage your children to take part!
Submit your photos to [email protected] with
"newsletter photo" in the reference line, and give us
some info on the photographer, the location or event,
and those featured in the photo. If we publish your
photos, we'll give you lunch for free! We have so much
good to market--great stories to tell. We want to see and
share the moments you capture at High Vista!!!
