Day 1: Arrival in Lilongwe, Burley House
Welcome to Lilongwe, and Malawi – the warm heart of Africa!
On arrival a representative from Malawian Style will meet and greet you at the airport. You will be given the maps and
information you need for your trip and directed to your first night’s accommodation: the tranquil Burley House. Set in
beautifully established gardens in Lilongwe’s prestigious residential Area 43, Burley House offers corporate
and leisure travelers and idyllic retreat in a friendly, informal atmosphere. Burley House extends all the
facilities expected by today's traveler coupled with the exclusivity, serenity and security.

Day 2 - 4: Huntingdon House, Satemwa
Today it is time to leave the capital city for some fresh air and splendid views at the tea estates in the Mulanje
Mountain area. To reach this mountainous region you will drive down to the Southeast part of the country to
your lodge, located at the Satemwa Tea Estate, about 70 km from Mulanje. Arguably the most scenically
beautiful region of Malawi, The Thyolo district forms the heart of Malawi's tea producing region with rolling
hills of immaculately cultivated, emerald green plantations and some of the oldest estates in the country.
Huntingdon House was built in the 1920's and the estate has been in the Cathcart Kay family for generations,
with members of the family still running the tea and coffee production of the estate. The grand old colonial
style house is surrounded by magnificent gardens and beautiful old trees.
Accommodation: 2 nights at Huntingdon House – Full Board (Dinner, Lunch, Bed and Breakfast).

Day 4 - 6: Mvuu Camp, Liwonde National Park
Your next stop is Liwonde National Park and the Mvuu Camp overlooking the Shire River (pronounced Shiree).
With a profusion of hippos (Mvuu means hippo), crocodile and amazing birdlife, you can enjoy your time
sitting watching the wildlife by the river, as well as through joining any of the many activities. Activities offered
include game viewing, river cruises, nature walks, bird watching, star gazing and more.
Mvuu Wilderness Camp nestles discreetly on the banks of a lagoon just off the Shire River. The camp is top
quality with very classy luxury safari tents overlooking the lagoon. The food is exceptional and the package
includes sunset river cruises and early morning game drives.
Accommodation: 2 nights at Mvuu Camp – Full Board (Dinner, Lunch, Bed and Breakfast) as well as
activities. Park fees (USD 10 pp) are not included and has to be paid upon arrival. Drinks are on pay as

Day 6 - 8: Mumbo Island
During the coming days it is time to experience the country’s most famous destination – The Lake Malawi!
Your accommodation will be at the beautiful Mumbo Island, 10km/45 min by boat from Cape Maclear.
Mumbo Island is a pristine and deserted tropical island floating on the expansive waters of the Lake Malawi
National Park. With a maze of massive underwater boulders, innumerable species of colourful cichlid fish and
calm, clear water, the National Park offers what many consider to be the best freshwater snorkeling and
SCUBA diving in the world. All tents are fully furnished with en-suite bathrooms.
Accommodation: 2 nights at Mumbo Island – Full Board (Dinner, Lunch, Bed and Breakfast) as well as
non-motorized activities (except scuba diving). Drinks are on pay as you go basis.
Distance to drive: about 150km/2.5h from Liwonde National Park. Boat transfer from Cape Maclear
leaves daily at 10:30am and 3pm and takes 45 minutes to Mumbo Island (Car to be left at Kayak Africa).
Day 8 - 11: Danforth Yachting, Cape Maclear/Lake Malawi
You will have two last days by the lake before it is time to head back. You will spend two nights at the
executive Danforth Lodge, based in the heart of the village Cape Maclear. The Lodge has eight en-suite, airconditioned rooms, tastefully decorated in cool, nautical colors and all opening onto a large patio. All rooms
have spectacular views of the lake. The garden has shady lawns, leading to the sparkling beachside infinity
swimming pool. Moored just a stone’s throw away is the luxury yacht "Mufasa"
Accommodation: 2 nights at Danforth Yachting Lodge – Full Board (Dinner, Lunch, Bed and Breakfast)
as well as all non-motorized water sports. Drinks and motorized water sports are on pay as you go basis.
Distance to drive: Boat transfer from Mumbo leaves daily at 9am and takes 45 minutes to Cape Maclear,
alternatively you can kayak the 10km, which takes about 2hrs. Drive from Kayak Africa to Danforth is
about 2 minutes.

Day 11: Departure, Lilongwe
All good things must come to an end, and today is the day you will be driving back to Lilongwe. You have a 4
hour drive ahead of you, before arriving at the airport where the car rental company will meet you to fetch
your car.
Distance: about 280 km/4.5h from Lake Malawi.
