Project Team Tough was formed in 1981 with just three
members and a commitment to realizing the chief
developer’s dream of constructing “a watch that doesn’t
break, even when dropped.” In 1983, after about two years
of producing more than 200 prototypes one after another,
the team finally arrived at a shock-resistant structure.
That’s the day G-SHOCK was born.
Absolute Toughness
G-SHOCK has followed a unique path of evolution ever
since, always maintaining this inherited structure as its core.
With each step, it has pursued further toughness in every
respect, from structure to materials and functions.
Gravity Defier, the watch that raised the multi-function
pilot’s watch to a level even closer to perfection.
RANGEMAN, the flagship model of the Master of G series
that continues to challenge the ultimate limits. And MT-G,
the G-SHOCK that pursues an integration of toughness
with beauty through innovative exterior technologies.
Striving to remain as tough as can be, and constantly
seeking to grasp new possibilities,
G-SHOCK carries its challenge into the future.

Solar-powered
200-metre water resistance
CASIO’s original solar-charging system converts
not only sunlight but also light from fluorescent
lamps and other sources into power. Light
captured by a tiny solar panel is used to
generate electric
power and charge a
built-in rechargeable
battery with ample
capacity to operate
several energy-hungry
functions with ease.
A standard met by
every G-SHOCK, this
capability enables users
to wear their watch
during water-related
activities ranging from
washing dishes or
washing the car to
swimming, skin-diving
and jet skiing.

Wide face design
The ongoing pursuit of further toughness has produced a robust
structure that withstands three types of gravitational acceleration:
shocks, centrifugal gravity and vibrations.
The series’ toughest structure is equipped with a direction measurement function that
employs the second hand as a compass needle pointing north.
The pilot’s watch has reached a new higher level approaching perfection.
αGEL®
Measuring 35.4mm in diameter, the series’ widest face features a main dial with a
4-layer structure, inset dials that add to the impression of depth, and a special
fluorescent ink coating on the oversized 3D index and hour and minute hands. The
resulting design is notable for its extremely high visibility.
Sapphire crystal
The clear, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal assures both durability and high visibility.
Shock-resistant structure
Centrifugal force resistance
Vibration resistance
*αGEL® is a material with silicone as its main component and featuring superior vibration-absorption capabilities.
*αGEL® is a registered trademark of Taica Corporation in Japan, the United States and other countries.
Direction measurement function
Pressing the COMP button converts the second hand into
a compass needle pointing north. This function provides
pilots with the information they need to navigate in the
right direction and execute proper flight procedures safely
in response to unexpected circumstances, such as sudden
changes in flight plans or emergency landings.
[Magnetic sensor]
Advances in direction measurement technologies include downsizing of the magnetic sensor by
some 95% and reduction of its power consumption compared with its predecessor. Optimal
positioning of the sensor inside the module has reduced the influence of magnetic fields generated
by the internal motors and the radio wave-reception antenna, moreover, and the use of highly
magnetic-resistant materials for metal parts has further enhanced its measurement reliability.
Smart Access
The combination of Multi Mission Drive, which assigns multiple
functions to a single hand, with an electronic crown switch achieves
both the multi-functionality and operability required of a pilot’s watch.
[1/20-second stopwatch with fly-back function]
Measurement can be stopped, reset and restarted with the push of a button. This efficient button
operation facilitates highly accurate measurements with no time lag.
GW-A1100-1A
Oversized crown with quick-lock mechanism
The large crown features a quick-lock mechanism for easy
locking and release. The crown’s grip has also been
improved by combining metal and resin materials in its
construction.
Painstaking attention to detail
The tough design features a
forged case back engraved with
the “Triple G Resist” mark, a
metal band loop and an
extra-wide band.
Fine resin band links (GW-A1100FC)
The watchband employs tough yet lightweight fine resin for
the H-shaped band links, each of which is secured by an
embedded metal frame. This structure achieves high
durability and excellent wearing comfort simultaneously.

Thermo sensor with full analogue display
GW-A1000-1A
The built-in thermo sensor can measure temperatures across the range
from -10°C to 60°C. Measured values are displayed in full analogue
format. The second hand indicates + or -, and the minute and hour
hands indicate the values in units of 10°C and 1°C, respectively.
* Remove the watch from your wrist when measuring outdoor temperatures to ensure that the reading is
not affected by body temperature, perspiration or direct sunlight.
Four-layer dial structure
The 3D dial is constructed of four layers, a reflection of G-SHOCK’s
uncompromising pursuit of legibility essential to a pilot’s watch.

The Arabic numeral index is laid out
effectively to maximise hour marker
visibility, a critical concern for pilots in
flight. A distinctive colour scheme helps
to ensure clear legibility for at-a-glance
reading of displayed data.
Neo-Brite luminescence applied to
the hour and minute hands retains an
extended afterglow, ensuring
enhanced night-time visibility and
contributing to accurate operation of
the various functions.
This Twin Sensor-equipped model features both
direction and temperature measurement capabilities.
Pressing the COMP button activates the direction
measurement function and converts the second hand
into a compass needle pointing north. Other features
include a bearing memory that displays directions
stored in memory graphically.
Neon Illuminator features a
built-in black light that
illuminates the second hand and
gradations when activated. The
hour and minute hands and
insets absorb light rapidly and
continue to glow in the dark for
several hours afterwards.

Shock Resistant
Cylindrical button guard structure
Triple Sensor, Ver. 3
RANGEMAN is the first watch to have Triple Sensor, Ver. 3 installed in a
shock-resistant structure. Three miniature sensors conduct highly accurate,
high-speed direction, atmospheric pressure/temperature and altitude measurements
that provide users with information vital to survival under extreme conditions.
A new button guard structure permits smoother, more precise button operation. The
cylindrical structure provides cushioning against lateral shocks—a weakness of
conventional button shafts—while protecting against incursions. The pipe is shaped
to serve as a guide, meanwhile, to assure more stable button strokes. A gasket
installed in the button shaft also maintains airtightness, contributing to the watch’s
20-bar water resistance.
[Stainless-steel button shaft]
Triple Sensor, Ver. 3
Reinforced stainless
button shaft
The direct sensor button employs a metal
shaft constructed of stainless steel. This
structure provides greater protection for
the sensor measurement button, which
undergoes frequent use and requires sure
operation.
Equipped with Triple Sensor, which accurately detects
the constant changes in natural phenomena,
RANGEMEN realizes the requisite toughness for
survival in extreme environments.

activity logs or action plans.
Design GW-9400
Stud design
The button shafts penetrate the case from various directions like riveted studs. This
design both contributes to an image of toughness capable of withstanding hard use
and achieves a button layout enabling superior operability.
Sensor button
The sensor measurement functions have
been combined in a single oversized
button. Just a push of the button is all it
takes to switch quickly among
measurement modes. One of three
different beeping sounds is omitted each
time the mode is switched to inform the
user which measurement mode is selected,
thus permitting sightless mode switching.
Wide face
Direct stopwatch button
Forged case back
The 1/100-second stopwatch can conduct
continuous measurement for up to 1,000
hours. The ability to take measurements with
a single press of the button comes in handy
in survival training and other such activities.
RANGEMAN’s wild cat character representing
unrestricted movement through the wilderness is
impressed on the forged case back.
Highly visible even in inhospitable outdoor environments, the large-diameter dial
features a functionally laid-out circular motion graphic display and upper and lower
digital displays. Various presentation modes unique to digital displays, among them
an altitude/atmospheric pressure tendency graph, supply users with accurate
measurement results.
[Anti-slip buttons]
Knurling treatment applied to the surfaces of the large, stainless steel buttons ensures stable
button operation, even with a gloved hand or under wet, rainy conditions.
